Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

maybe jarilo? :o

she buried pup.

of course she had.

aquamdax had buried her brother and with him, the piece of hide she had used to carry him.

her tracks led around the mountain, then up into its reaches. aqamdax searched for something she did not know, trespassing over laid borders as rain slanted into her tearstained eyes.

pup was the last tie she had possessed. without him, she did not know who she could be.

With the soft, cold rainfall, Jarilo descended the mountain satisfied with his progress.

On the heights had searched out then elusive herd of mountain goats, though only barely. Soon, he hoped with the deepening spring, they would shift towards their summer meadows to graze, loitering down to where they could reach them and he could scope their lot properly for hunting prospects. He had not seen them at all in months, had little idea of the extent of their numbers, or their individual states. After a winter in the mountains, who knew.

From the distance, it looked as if last year's surviving young had grown strong. Perhaps the season had been kind to them. A good start, and a buoy to his morale.

But the rain picked up, and he ducked his head as he shifted course. He trailed on--cruising headlong into a route that led him right into hers. Noticing, now, he perked. His pace stayed light, long, and his tail began a questioning arc. Who was this? The empyrean's faces were few, these days.. and not any so snow-furred. “Stranger--hello,” he tried over the patter of the rainfall, still striding closer.
