Fleeting.
The word had stayed with her sense leaving the coast, leaving the man. What was her purpose if this was a place of but fleeting wants and desires? Devana did not scoff at the idea of living to whims, but it was not for her. It was not the reason she had cultivated herself into the woman she was today.
Yet that goddamn word sat in her chest. It opened up a chasm of loneliness.
One that seemed amplified by the soft silence in the morning before the sun even rose. The fog swallowed her whole and she closed her eyes.
