Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It would seem there was never a time when Kaida didn't find herself amidst the flora of her new home, maw full of stems holding assorted colors of petals at their tips. It was soothing, if nothing else, an offer of a simpler time to be had in comparison to the rest of the world—the duties—that awaited her. They peered in, stalking her through paned glass in hopes she'd meet enough people, reveal enough, and start in a direction she'd otherwise been avoiding.

In truth, there were memories stowed away within the sunlight that cast shadows of sunflowers over the golden plain, secrets to be shared amidst the sway of tall grass. Kaida was taking advantage of it, humming to herself sweet, low tunes as she carefully plucked the flowers from their homes.

The sun beat down upon her back in a way bordering complaint, but the woman prevailed, let her mind set adrift the rolling waves of fragrance that permeated the field she'd found herself within. It was different from the grove she'd found herself in before, that one more dull and melancholic than this though the chill remained. The meadow, here, screamed joviality, happiness, comfort, while the other offered her more compassion in her ability to relate to such a scene. Something beautiful even in all its darkness.

WIth a gentle shake of her head, such thoughts slipped from her mind. To dwell on such a thing now would be to ruin the mood this meadow was capable of granting her. Despite it being fleeting, she wished to hold onto it for as long as she was capable. Kaida crooned to herself softly, a low sound from the depths of her chest as she pressed her nose to a particular plant hued in soft violets. She was careful, cautious even, before her head jerked with a vicious sneeze.

Marginally dazed and feeling a particular sorrow for the stems she'd crushed between her teeth, she began to seek out a place to begin a small collection. A hope to rid herself of another chance of maiming them all.
