Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

children can post if they'd like! @Krueger @Voorhees @Leatherface @Firefly kiddos are 17 days old

It was unlikely that any of her children would know of her culture, Morag's ability to mask her accent was unchallenged and really, what did it matter if they knew or not? The pride in her culture had been long buried, her desire for them to do anything other than to be useful stronger than her lineage pride. These children had the same fate as their older siblings though she would be sure to keep a closer eye on them so that they did not turn out to be traitors like @Leviathan. He had proven how weak he had been by running off with the girl who had tried to bully his sister and it would not repeat with this litter.

They were still young, their eyes not yet open fully and it was unlikely they could see much at all -- but it would not matter. Time would fly and soon they would be able to learn. The she-beast was amused that the pattern had followed of the previous litter, a swarm of boys with one girl. Perhaps @Lilith and @Firefly might find a way to use that to their advantage, if they wished to do as their mother did and prove it didn't matter what you held between your legs.

"You will all be great," Morag cooed to the babes at her belly, "you have no choice." Her fire-filled gaze looked to them, their bodies small but growing slightly day by day. "Failure is not an option." Lest they wish to die by fang or tooth. ^^

Kreuger's world had been drenched in a dark shadow. Glimpses of tattered brightness on the outside of his lids, silhouettes dancing. Things that he cannot comprehend. All he ever knew was the warmth of his mother's touch and the food that comes endlessly when he wants it. He does not have to ask; the world he knew was his. Even if he shared it with the three other bodies that kicked at him in the womb and split the warmth. This was fine, in the end. For the heat that disappears when his mother leaves, they are there to keep him calm.

'You will all be great.' The nightmare's ears wiggle; not completely un-sewn from his head, but pulling away more and more each day. 'You have no choice.' His body wiggles against her oak fur as he reaches a small paw up to his face and pulls at his forehead down to his cheek. Something itches. It differs from any sensation he's had before. 'Failure is not an option.' Blinding light makes him wince into Morag's pelt, shielding most of his face before he tries again, unsheathing blood red jewels to his mother. They are not fully beheld, but slit open just enough for a revelation.

All he’d known was the dark ocean. Swallowed in a tight nipped space next to another who’s body would push back. Paw for paw. They struggled for room. Until life filled their lungs. A tongue grazing across their tiny bodies.

That moment sealed a contract unbeknownst to Morag. One to which could not be broken. Voorhees whimpered in the assault. Snuggling into the oak coating of his mother. Her scent trapping him in a sea of obsession. For, any time she left them, he would wander aimlessly. Or attempt to do something like that. Seeking out the familiar perfume of fresh milk and her.

It was the moment she spoke. Ears yet to rise from their unfolded settle. But, they did twitch. Hearing a voice he knew held him captive. He let out a sound. Pushing a paw into the crevice of her belly. Wanting to see her. Needing to lay sights on the voice’s owner. Those dull eyes of copper staring up through a haze of blurry blindness at the one who caged his whole existence.
