He found he couldn't let himself sit still for too long, he was antsy and the sickening feeling of never getting back home settled in more and more each day. And he was not the type to give into such feelings of dread, so he drug himself back to those big paws, and went to wake up Dunstan. His badger friend was less than pleased, grumbling a mess of sounds as Shale poked and prodded him and when that didn't really work too well the young man decided to egg the critter on into a game of chase. 

Dunstan had rolled over, insisting he was going back to bed and Shale would say fine and pad out of their little burrow to all but turn himself right back around and crawl on his belly right up to the sleeping badger and give a loud woof right in his ear. Dunstan flew up and Shale took off with a booming laugh as the smaller creature chased after him just as determined to get his payback as Shale was to get away with it. They wove through the trees, Shale spinning around to drop into a playful bow before darting off again with a taunting laugh. 

So distracted by his tomfoolery that when he spun around the following time he hadn't noticed the other wolf right away heading in the opposite direction of himself, the boys mouth fell agape dropping his rump to put on the brakes “Woah, woah woah” he stammered breathlessly as he barely dodged around her. 

“H-hey sorry about that...” he offers through heaving pants, golden eyes darting with embarrassment. “We were just um...” but he stops himself, ears falling.
