The air is cold enough to burn her lungs with every breath. Yet it makes her feel alive. Against the pure white snow, her red coat stands out like a sore thumb. Its the furtherest thing from her mind. Jade doesn't mind having all eyes on her, she eats up the attention. Maybe its foolish of her, to be so brazen in a world she doesn't know. Especially when she doesn't even know how she got here. She'd gone to bed the night before; her temporary home an abandoned den, only to wake up somewhere different. She'd still woken in a den, but the air was different, the ground had changed, it was colder, harder. When she'd stepped from makeshift home, the forest around her was gone and she found herself surrounded by white. Powdery snow extended in every direction and coated the tall trees in every direction.
Its breathtaking.
She immediately bound forward, taking simple joy in leaping through the chilly powder so that it clung to her coat. It hasn't yet dawned on her, that she's in a strange land, all alone. There's no one to protect her here. She only has herself to rely on, and with her pampered life, she doesn't know a damn thing.
Slender jaws part in a pant when she finally stops frolicking, looking at the mess of snow left in her wake; its smooth surface plenty disturbed. Looking around, pale green eyes taking in the snow laden forest again. Its quiet. Too quiet. Her ears twitch with a flicker of nerves. What is she going to do now? Walking forward, she moves aimlessly, unsure which direction leads where. In her mind, she only needs to find the nearest town and from there, she'd have all her needs and desire fulfilled. How difficult could that be?
Her sister does cross her mind. She wonders what she's doing. Pausing, it dawns on her then that she might not ever see her again. Her parents too. Wherever she'd woken up, Jade didn't have the slightest clue how to get home. How could she? When she couldn't even explain how she'd gotten here. A shiver of unease races up her spine, something she does her best to ignore. For now, she's free. Free to do as she pleased without judgement. Without her parents scorn. Without the judgement of their hometown. No one here knows her name. No one here can speculate about her lineage. Here is an opportunity for a fresh start.
