It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Once upon a time, Amos was a wild wolf. Hellfire and vinegar, he had all the energy in the world. Would disappear on a lark, go out to take a gander, hunt and vanish for days on end to take hiking and wandering trips. But growing old, taking a mate, and then losing those he loved have tamed him, turning him into the wolf he is now. He is easy going, happy to watch the sun go up and down, the days go by. Nothing pleases him more than to sprawl on a rock, watching the sunrise.
That's not to say he's lazy, now don't be rude! He ain't nothin' of the sort. Sure, his joints click, and he can't always chew too good, and he sheds enough to make three more hims. But darn it, he can hunt just as good as any young'un! And just try and stop him, he's gonna be right there! Right in the midst of it, darn it! He ain't no useless old man, no sir! Although he doesn't mind sticking behind and minding the pups - although beware, they might start yapping about "Amazing Uncle Amos, didja hear? He took down A WHOLE BISON all on his own! Just his own teeth and claws! And when he was our age, he had to walk TEN MILES to the watering hole, up three hills, uphill all the way!"
I only see my goals, I don't believe in failure
