Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Filavandrel! The other tag is for reference.

Petra explored the foothills with @Ira nearby; the air was lush with smells of plants and animals. At first, it'd been difficult, and almost impossible, for her to decide which scent to pursue, but she eventually settled on a tasty-smelling vole. It was young and healthy, and she anticipated it'd put up some fight.

She moved around the territory with her snout hovering above the ground, following the invisible trail the creature had left behind. When she sensed she was getting close, she paused atop a hill to survey the valley below and searched the area to see if she could spot the prey.

He was regularly on the move, out in the world more often than he was at home. The different sights, scents and wildlife fascinated him - Filavandrel hungered for more.

The Prince roamed South, and he found the climate significantly milder. On Tsukiishi there was snow year-round, whereas the lowlands he'd travelled to were kissed by frost but still green with life. He imagined the prey there would surely be plentiful with the abundance of plants to graze on, and lifted his ears to listen for anything he might be able to make a snack of.

Filavandrel did not locate a rabbit or stoat, however, but one if his own kind. He paused to regard her quietly, lilac eyes lingering on her cool-toned pelage with interest as he emitted a soft chuff in greeting.
