Open to any Event Horizon wolves! If you haven't met Crux yet and you want to get a quick thread in timed before this so you can be present, let me know :)

 The forest was home now.

There were no ifs, ands, or buts about it. He had made his decision and no wolf would stop him from making this new land his home. No wolf would chase him from it. His steely determination was evident on his face as he sat atop the hill, fronds of fiery orange brushing his shoulders gently as the wind tugged at it. It had rained through the night and while clouds still trailed across the sky, it was set to be a comfortably warm day. He inhaled deeply, enjoying the thick odor of fresh pine and whatever strange species of tree was predominant in this forest.

So, too, did he smell and hear the river. It rushed by, carrying with it life-giving water and fish, towards the beaver dam that was growing at the edge of one's vision from the corner of the island. They had been quite the adventure that Mordecai and he had had, finding this place after spending some time traveling and just looking about. The camp lay below him. To the right, it looked like a chunk of the hill had been eaten, revealing rock at the highest point and a sandy pit at its lowest. He couldn't see it from his vantage, but he knew that the rock there held a cave that had once been the home to bears, many many years ago. That cave now had been checked out and decided on for a safe place for pups - of which they had several now. Yet, there no mothers to be found.

He inhaled and rose, striding forward down the hill. If anyone were about, he would indicate for them to follow him. It was time to start making the land theirs and discussing the future. They couldn't stay a band of loners forever, not with a pawful of pups and a fawn.

It had only been a day, but Kei wasted no time lounging about banking on a free meal. She could be lazy, but she had pride and knew well how a balance must be kept, not just in the world around her but in her daily life. There hadn't been much time to explore yet, but in her short time in the blood-stained woods, she had found the river that surrounded the camp Crux and his loners occupied.

The water flowed freely, likely heading out to the shorelines she had seen before, not at all weighed down by whatever elements controlled the temperament of the trees. Crux's theory about time slowing seemed far-stretched before, but now she was sure that was not the case. They too experienced no difference upon entering the woods, but perhaps only that which was birthed from the earth here was susceptible to the forest's influence.

Oh well. A streak of white and black moving caught her attention as she wandered back towards the island. Upon a closer inspection, she easily made out Crux's figure, seemingly heading inland as well with a look that told her something was on his mind. Since agreeing to follow, the shadow had yet to really meet any of these other wolves. She saw a few pass by, but for the most part, kept to herself and today would be no different.

Lingering near the edges of the encampment, she'd follow the male's path with her eyes, waiting to see what he might be up to.

The land was strange, the air even stranger but Persephone was fond of it. Since being brought home with Crux, the girl had been on her paws more often than she had slept -- ever so excited to explore her new home. It was interesting, the crimson trees and how everything seemed to be tinged with red, just like her! Though her belly felt strange as she loped through the trees, it was an interesting feeling of wanting to feel it more. Seph wasn't one to cower at the unknown, instead being curious, perhaps too curious, and run in without caution. That's exactly how she was taking this, it was a new adventure and she was dying to find every nook and cranny and devour it whole.

Between the trees she bounced, her tongue dangling from her mouth and her tail flagging out behind her as she zoomed. It was only a falter in her steps that made the pup gaze to the side and in a blurr, she caught something. Two somethings, she thought, Big Moon was one of them -- but the other, this one she did not know. Kore's paws changed direction and in the sudden movement, she slid and stumbled though she giggled as a thorned branch of a bush snagged into her leg. She didn't realise that it had drawn blood as she moved, instead she beelined for the dark furred wolf with vibrant, mismatched eyes. Though she was terribly excited that Big Moon was up ahead somewhere, she had yet to meet this wolf and it intrigued her.

"Do you like the red?" Kore inquired loftily as she slid up to the older wolf, head tilting to the side as she smiled a small smile up at her. Not a hint of red upon the beast but Kore was not bothered; Big Moon was not red either. So vastly different to the trees, weren't they? She hummed lowly as she observed the older woman, tail swaying softly behind her. "Big Moon says it's called... uhm..." she trailed off in thought, "Bleakwood! He says it's called the Bleakwood. Why not Redwood?" She wondered aloud, it would make more sense, wouldn't it?

Mordecai was off, nibbling on honeysuckles that he'd found. He loved the sweet flavor, they were almost as good as strawberries... but he thought that about everything. Food in general was aaaammmaaazziiinnng. So, he didn't discriminate against anything. Especially if it was sweet! Regardless, he nibbled and munched and he nearly missed the others passing by. Except, the scents of other wolves tickled his nose. The brown wolf turned his head, watching as the Prince walked by. The prince! His besets friend here! He started forward, prepared to burst towards his side.... except.

"Why not Redwood?" His ear twitched and he whipped around, mouth agape at that smart girl! That's what he said! He looked at Crux, then back at the girl, lost in a moment of indecision before he bundled towards the older woman and the small gal at her side. "That's what I said!" He said with a grin. Happy to have someone else that thought the same thing as he did. Sorry Crux, he'd be there in a moment to sit at his side. After all, that's what bodyguards did!

He hadn't really met any others, he only had Papa Crux but he knew that there were other wolves here. He was among them but he didn't really fear them as much anymore. It was clear that they weren't going to eat him. Why should he keep fearing the wolves of the red leaves? He was still alone though, sleeping in the cave with the other children. He had his own corner where he curled up to sleep. He didn't really feel like speaking much... Although, he could tell that something was afoot today. He felt drawn to leave the cave and watched as Papa Crux headed through the camp. The large brown wolf that seemed to be his Papa's friend went away towards another pup, one that was very close to his age. His steely gaze lingered on them for a moment before he left the cave to head over to his Papa. The fawn fell into step with the man, saying nothing but giving him a small smile as he tried to keep pace with the larger man.

Hope this is okay! Let me know if it's not!

The forest's scent wrapped around him, cast about by a gentle wind. With it, too, came the scents of his group. Out of the shadows climbed his new friends and followers. He felt their eyes on him, heard them shifting about to follow him. He inhaled carefully, taking in all their scents and so too, the scent of Them that had begun to form by simple proximity.

He looked over to the black shadow of a wolf - Kei - and the tiny thing - Kore - that had rushed over to her. Soon, Mordecai was after them and his ear flicked at their conversation. A sigh. Bleakwood... He'd enjoyed the name, but it felt like every day a wolf spoke about how much it didn't fit, how much another name would work better. His lips pressed together and he turned in time to see the young fawn, Hawking, come up behind him. His tail wagged in greeting at the child and he turned to nuzzle him, reminding every wolf about that the fawn was not food.

He looked up at the others after a moment and then cleared his throat. “Can I have your attention, wolves of Bleakwood!”

After giving them a moment to crawl out of dens or otherwise turn to pay attention, he would go on. “It's time we make a name for ourselves.” he said, voice rising to carry across the camp but no further. “I've decided: Event Horizon.” The way he said it was definitive and confident in a way that said that this was not a name he would change his mind on. “You are all welcome to stay as either member or guest, but please let me know what your decision is.” He hoped that they would all decide to stay as pack, even if their decision was made later than now. He'd been toying with the idea of a true pack for a while now and wanted to get some feedback.

He then looked at Kore and gave a half smile. “And while we're about it, perhaps we can come up with a better name for the forest. I'll admit that Bleakwood doesn't quite fit.” It was not unkind and any bitterness he felt about it was well hidden. “Does anyone have any suggestions?” Besides Redwood, he thought with a flick of his ear. That name just was a bit too obvious. He liked things with a bit of a cryptic sound to them.

@Minxy came up with the name Ichorwood, so if you want Kore to suggest it, feel free! Otherwise, anyone else is free to make IC suggestions.

Maybe Blackbeard was a little bit too weary. Still, he can't shake the thoughts that wreck him saying something is wrong. He can't help but instinctually stand near the outer reaches of the meeting so he can keep an eye on absolutely everything. He offered to protect those in Event Horizon, and Blackbeard would never back down from his word. Using that as an excuse for why he didn't sit directly with the others would work, but still, those who knew the job of a fighter would know he was doing it so he could watch. He at least figured no one would try to maul him in front of their leader, or well... In front of the group, especially not with the fact none of them but two have met him before this. He'll have to meet the others soon, and gauge how likely he is to get along with the lot of them, but that can come later. For now his attention is focused on Crux and the message the wolf is trying to deliver.

Their name, which Blackbeard already knew, a renaming of the forest. He found that one surprising, to him, Bleakwood sounded nice, but he had no idea the history behind the name. It could be something Crux didn't want to keep. He doesn't have an opinion of the name change, so Blackbeard says nothing. Instead he gazes through the wolves at the meeting. There's Crux. Confident, clearly has somewhat of an idea of what he wants, and what appears to be good enough control over the group of loners. Next, a dark pelted stranger. Blackbeard doesn't have much to think about her since she's not said anything, so he moves on to the next. A child too young to be alone, though none of the present wolves appear to be one of her parents. Unless she picked up her colors from a grandparent. She offers a new name, one that matches the coloring of the plants around them.

The next one is a boy with a brown pelt, he's also commenting on the name of the forest they are in. He has some creative decorations that Blackbeard can't name, and that has him curious. His tail is short too, along with scars marring his form. Both of those things also have the man curious. He knows better than to ask about another's battles, however, and doesn't plan on it in the future. Next is the deer, named Hawking he was told about before. Off-limits for hunting, and appears to only be a young buck. Blackbeard wouldn't willingly hunt a deer that young anyway, and from his spot he can already tell the buck has the scent of the pack on him. If anyone had common sense they should see the deer is a friend to the pack, but he also knows some little minded fools don't use their nose and only follow their instincts. Blackbeard would be classified as one of those if he were on a mission, but he is not.

His attention gets turned back to the leader.

So much for lingering on the sidelines. Crux hadn't even had the chance to speak before a ball of youth and energy bounded her way with a vigor not even her stumble could slow. Kei reeled back, blinking dumbfoundedly at the pair of eyes that eagerly seized her. Uhh... What had she asked? In her surprise, Kei had completely glossed over the other girl's words.

Big Moon, yeahhh. I'm sure the moon tells you lots, kid. Wait, he? Did someone here really have a name as dumb as Big Moon? Before she even had the chance to ask another wolf ran over, this one much larger with an energy to match. Despite appearances, she would have almost assumed him to be the girl's father, but his words said otherwise. Ah, Big Moon. Isn't Redwood a bit obvious for a name?

Why the hell were they crowding her about it anyways. It wasn't like she had a say in it...heh, well she didn't. While the two before her commented about how the woods should be Redwood a few others had gathered before Crux properly addressed the growing crowd. The first bit of news she had heard before, announced with her invitation to see this band of soon-to-be ex-loners. Rather she stayed as a guest or official member was still up in the air. It had only been a day since she wandered to these woods, but so far there really was no reason to leave.

Then he turned his gaze towards them, a smile on his lips as he too admitted the ill-fitting name. Kei agreed it seemed like an odd name, but it didn't really bother her, nor did she exactly have a name ready to throw into the pool, but if they really choose Redwood then they should just keep Bleak. Golden eyes shifted to the red leaves above, their hue as vibrant as flames. The shadow huffed, shrugging her shoulders at her own suggestion as she finally found her voice Rekka Woods, Kouyou Woods, I dunno. They were no better than calling the woods "red" but maybe the majority wouldn't realize her suggestions had been similar just in her native tongue.

^^Well, yes, she thought. Big Moon did tell her a lot, but she wasn't sure what the bigger woman meant by it -- not that she had much time to think on it, as a man came bumbling towards them with words on his tongue. Kore bounced happily on her paws with her bum wiggling with her tail, "you did?" she chirped with a broad grin as she tilted her head up to him. "We just too smart," Kore cheeked, bumbling towards him and rubbing her sides against his forelegs as she sniffed at him. As Crux spoke and garnered their attention, Kore was quick to drop her bum to the ground without moving from invading Mordecai's space, and if she sat on his paw, then, well, she sat on his paw.

Event Horizon, he said they were to be called. She didn't know what it meant but she liked it. Her ears pricked at his next set of words and she puffed her cheeks up, well of course she was staying! She liked it here, she liked Big Moon and the eerie red woodland. "Yes yes yes!" she chirped in delight, thumping her forepaws against the ground as her excitement bubbled over, unable to be contained.

He smiled at her and Kore grinned at him, lifting her chin as something itched at her brain to his question about the forest. She didn't know how she knew it, didn't know what it meant, but she could hear a voice that she felt she knew, whisper the words in the back of her brain. As if portions of a memory flittered through absentmindedly. It was strange and it took her a couple seconds to repeat it and when she did, it was loud and excited. "Ichor!" she paused, tacking on a sheepish, "wood."^^

"You did?" He nodded his head eagerly. He sure had! And she had too! They were smart! He smiled as the gal bumbled towards him chirpily. His gaze turned towards the other more reserved woman as she mentioned that it was an "obvious" name. Was it? He screwed his face up, the rusty wheels in his brain turning to try to glean what exactly she meant. Was it too obvious? It seemed to fit though... so did that matter? Hmm... what a pickle. He seemed to be confused into inaction, until he was distracted by Crux speaking. Oh oh! A meeting was starting!

Without further ado, the man plopped his own rump on the ground with a little more force than the child right near him. A cloud of dust accompanied the action as he watched Crux begin the meeting. He supposed sitting back here would be fine! He had two new friends to talk to! The woman right near him --he didn't really notice her probably irritation at being crowded-- and the bubbly girl who sat on one of his paws. He didn't care though, as long as she was comfortable. He'd try not to move it in case he accidentally sent her flying. That would be real bad!

Event Horizon. He had no idea what that meant but it was a real good name! He liked it and wagged his short tail in approval as he smiled at Crux. He couldn't believe this was finally happening! All the hard work they put in was coming to fruition! Oof, he almost felt like crying but he took in a deep breath to hold it in. He had to keep it together, the meeting wasn't even over yet!

Oh wow! Everyone was so good at coming up with names! He felt like he had to contribute! "Redw--" Oh wait, that lady had said that Redwood was a bit too obvious. He corrected himself quickly and blurted out, "Redleaves!" Yeah yeah, that was much better! He was helping! Although he whispered down to the girl in front of him, "What does Ichor mean?" He thought that the black wolf's names were just random names but "ichor", he felt that that meant something...

The young fawn closed his eyes and breathed in deep as a smile flickered on his face, savoring the feel of Crux's nuzzle. It made him feel like he belonged, that these wolves were his people despite the fact that they looked so different. He stood, rather than sitting as Crux called the meeting to order. His gaze swept around at the assembled wolves. The grouping of the large brown wolf, the smaller creamish one, and the black one. His eyes lingered longer on the pup, they were similar ages but he didn't feel the need to go talk to her about it. He was fine right where he was.

Next his gaze found the striped wolf, eyes lingering for a moment before he twitched his ear and looked up at his caretaker. Event Horizon, it was a cool sounding name. He wiggled his tail in approval, pleased to be a part of the pack all over again. His Pa went on further to announce that the name of the woods would be changed. Ah well, he had liked the name but he wouldn't argue with a change.

His gaze turned back towards the assembled wolves as names were thrown out but one in particular, he seemed partial to. Ichorwood. His gaze went back towards the pup sitting on the larger wolf's paw. He waggled his tail at that name, a silent show of assent that he rather liked it.

Another familiar face joined the group - the one who had been an assassin in the past. He kept pretty quiet, instead looking at all the other wolves, so Crux offered a flick of an ear in greeting but no more.

He overheard Kei comment on how obvious Redwood was and his heart sang. He hadn't had the heart to say it to sweet Mordecai or even little Kore, but he agreed. He didn't want to get their hopes up, but thankfully nobody brought the name up as a suggestion. He considered Kei's suggestions. Rekka woods sounded neat, as did Kouyou, but he felt they lacked a little something... like understanding. They sounded like another language and names that would bring more questions than answers.

Mordi was absolutely about to suggest Redwood, but instead suggested Redleaves, an equally as obvious name. Crux smiled kindly at him, but put no more thought to the name, for another suggestion thrown to the sky caught his attention. “Ichorwood?” The name felt familiar, in some way. “What does it mean?” he said, half a second after Mordecai's whispered question, which he hadn't picked up on account of it being a whisper.

He did notice Hawking looking at the pup with a wiggling tail, which he figured meant that the little deer liked the name. Ichorwood. He wasn't opposed to it. Something about it felt... powerful. As if it was godly, whatever that meant.

He awoke with a start.

Forgetting almost for a second what he was doing here, brief panic clogging his system as he inhaled the bittersweet air. And then the red stained leaves came into focus and he suddenly realized that he was ok. He was supposed to be here. A strange sort of predilections, but at least he was not out there fighting among fellow monsters. Never fucking again.

And so he rose stiffly upon weary paws, molten gaze cutting through the stillness as intensely as the sun that was rising. A raw hunger taking hold, that had little to do with breakfast. He had still not settled entirely into the midst of camp, instead lurking softly in the undergrowth of the forest. Was it shameful to admit, part of him was scared of ruining the fairytale? However something was different this fine morning and he decided to take the chance and see. Lumbering along in the direction of camp, every instinct screaming he should go. Before they found out what in fact he truly was.  Before he dare set heartbreak upon the wise king. However selfishness was a curse, and he was loath to break it.

As he came into view of the place,  the very breath of him caught tight in his throat. So many happy faces. So much... everything. Lurking just on the outskirts, heart swelled with unknown passion as they all discussed their hopes and dreams. Guilty to, was he so cowardly that he could not approach? Some he recognized and others not, with a little glance at Crux he swallowed his doubts and emerged amongst them.

" It appears that I overslept. "  a weak attempt at a smile. Confused at these new emotions, he would not and had not hesitated to devour things alive but the thought of greeting such goodness and purity? The scariest damn thing he faced ever. " I'm Satchel. Apologies for the interruption." and with such words he sat quietly down near  Crux,  almost daring to enjoy this rush of revival.

"We just too smart,"

Ah yes, so smart to name the woods after the color of the leaves. Maybe she was being too hard, this was just a kid after all, but Kei couldn't help but roll her eyes with an audible sigh as the guy suggested Redleaves as his better suggestion. She knew her options weren't overly creative either, but at least she didn't pretend it was their best suggestion. Oh well, at least he stole the girl's attention off of her.

The shadow's perhaps obvious disdain towards their naming committee almost caused her to miss the new name on everyone's lips. It was only when Crux asked for the meaning that her attention snapped back. Ichor? Who had suggested that? The kid??? Her gaze shifted to the red girl, a brow quirked, The blood of the gods. How do you know about that? This was the girl who wanted to name the forest red. Where the hell did ichor come from?

^^Above her Mordecai spoke of names and as the attention was drawn to her, Kore leaned back on his leg as if to make herself less noticeable. Crux and Kei's eyes both seemed to be on her and the girl smiled sheepishly, continuing to try and bury herself into Mordecai's leg. "A voice told me so," she supplied softly, "I... it's a broken voice and I can't make out much more." Did that mean she had done badly? She sniffled as she peered through her lashes to them all, the white-wolf named Satchel seeming tired, his prior words telling them that he had overslept being one of the tells. He didn't question her, though, and Kore settled on Mordi's paw with slightly more ease.

"Sometimes I just know things," the girl added on quietly, was it the voices? they... were they memories, her imagination or -- what were they? She swallowed and smiled still, her cheeks aflame as she stared. "Is it... is it not good?" Kore questioned with a pout, the little deer boy seemed to like it, his stub tail wagging. The others, though, she wasn't so sure. ^^

It seemed that everyone was taking a liking to that name! All eyes were on her and she seemed to be trying to shy away from all of the attention. Mordecai could feel that she was trying to hide herself from nervousness and uncertainty. He leaned forward a bit, hoping to help at least absorb some of the attention in some way. He listened as she tried to explain this "blood of the gods" thing. It was all very confusing.

He listened to her expression and felt mystified. "Ooohh, what if it's one'a them fifth sense kinda deals? Like supernatural stuff." Like wolves that could sense something before it happened or psychic powers! He didn't realize the term he was looking for was sixth sense. "Naw, your idea was great." It said to her, smiling, and then shifting his smile to Crux. Their leader had liked it right. It was a real good suggestion!

“Blood of the gods?” he whispered to himself, peering at Kei and then at Kore, who spoke about a voice in her head. He blinked, then glanced at the sky for a moment before looking back at them. The irony hit him like an avalanche and he couldn't help but laugh. Not mockery but instead joy filled his voice.

Oh, what a shame that none of the wolves here would understand why this name brought him such hilarity.

Yes, the so-called-gods bled out, set afire by the very wolves they had raised up. Ragnarok had come and destroyed them, taking their godly blood and spilling it here, for him to claim. “I love it. Does anyone have any qualms with the name Ichorwood for this land?” He would scan the faces of the wolves here, waiting for any nay-sayers. When none came, he grinned, tail waving above his hips.

Triumph rang in his heart and he was unable to hold back. He threw back his head and howled his claim to the heavens, “This land of Bleakwood is now Ichorwood - and it is claimed by the wolves of Event Horizon!” The howl continued after the words and he hoped that the others would pick up the howl and join voices with him.

 Finally.

A broken voice. Sounded more like crazy than a sixth sense if you asked her, but she'd ignore that for now. It was probably some mixed-up memory from her parents or something. Crux liked the name and honestly, she wouldn't complain. She might not even stay so why should it be up to her what they call the woods. As the new name was decreed, a howl sounded making it only that much more official, though if other voices joined in Kei would keep quiet. It felt wrong to join her voice, even if she held a rank here, she wasn't entirely sold just yet.
