Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Set just 2 days after this thread

It had been long enough since he had last seen Blackfoot, it was about time to come see if she had left him to his own devices, or had stayed to give him another chance. Two days should have been plenty for her to decide without them having the dreaded conversation...

After Miriam, Annika, Rhaella, @Sorina and now this with @Blackfoot - he swore off the chances of ever finding love. It seemed the cuttings words from Rhaella rang truer now louder than ever, and he wouldn't fight them any longer. Who could love a hideous beast like him? The sting faded as it settled into a deep scar, no longer feeling that same ache and instead numb to it all.

With a deep rolling woof, he alerted his presence in the general area where he had left her. Not daring to come closer and instead lazily laid down in the snow a few wolflenths away to wait.

The snow white woman moved through the lands, sighing slightly to herself. She was bored and lonely and had decided it best if she explored a bit around the lands, perhaps finding something interesting for her pack. It wasn't until she came towards another that she heard their call, watching them lay down in the distance. She noticed his scarring on his face and moved to approach on his left side, making sure he could see her so that she didn't startle him. Light blue eyes would stay on his own, not lingering on his facial scarring as she honestly didn't care to. It wasn't that it bothered her, but she didn't want to make him feel weird by ogling him.

"Hello there good sir, I'm assuming you're waiting for someone, is it one in Shiroshika?" She doubted it as she figured he would have made his way to the borders if that was so, but she figured that if it was someone she knew, perhaps she could help out.

Nothing. He as met with nothing but the whispering emptiness of the frozen wilderness around. The hushed whimpers of the breeze carried the scent of a pack beyond the glacier between them and the gardens of which he intruded. It was beauty, and he was monstrous. In and out. A sound that he should grow accustomed to once again.

The silence wasn't forever. Feminine chords struck the silence catching his attention. With a slow turn he cast his eye onto her, gazing the woman up and down without any shame. The barbaric blood boiling within him with new life, an existence he had shunned but clearly had belonged in such a primitive state of being.

“No.” Stilling his tongue to speak that Blackfoot must have left. That he was here waiting for no one but the ghosts of his past to haunt his sorry excuse of a life. “What do you want?” Bitting words uttered by an impatient tongue.

She raised an eyebrow at him for a moment, but her face remained kind nonetheless, nodding slightly at his blatant no. That was fine with her. What she wasn’t expecting though was his rude question, causing her to narrow her eyes slightly. Part of her really wanted to chastise him like a child, but figured that wouldn’t do any good to someone at his age.

So instead, she would shake her head, lifting her head to sniff the air. ”I don’t need anything, dear. I simply wanted to help if I could.” She moved her body slightly, ready to leave soon. ”If you need anything though, don’t hesitate to stop by, my name is Delgata.” She didn’t seem to care if he stated his name or not, she simply wanted to give him the option. She would pause for a moment in hopes of learning his name, but would make no effort to force it out of him.

The narrowing of her gaze pricked at his spine. Raising the snow-capped tendrils along his back with clear agitation. For individuals who only saw themselves as birthing tools for their fathers prior to them, women truly believed themselves to be great. While they bathed in the labour of men, eating their food and beckoning for protection - they dared to challenge the men they oh so sought protection from.

His mind spiraled.

A broken body.

A broken soul.

Lost to the winds of time, scattered through time and space. Where he once thought there was something more to life than the barbaric remains he had come from, he begged to return to. Drit og dra —putain. The rolling words slipped from threatening daggers as the remaining lips peeled back.

Perhaps the nicer way to say it was that he wanted to be left alone, but perhaps something within him finally snapped.
