Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She could smell them nearby. With ears flattened taught and almost imperceivable against the thickness of her skull, she took to the stench she despised the most. The bubbles began to roll at the top of her baseless rage and she moved slowly and remained incognito against the brushes of the tall burnt summer grasses.

Maeve found them, they were asleep and utterly unaware of the barbarous act that was to ensue. She being so highly territorial within her unclaimed space, she launched herself unceremoniously toward them and made a bitter alarm clock. The demon wrapped and clenched her jaws around the base of their tail, anchoring her back paws into the earth and began to writhe her head as a pup to a tug-o-war rope. She wanted her prize. And she made quick work in her sudden burst to attempt some damage before the wolf whipped round to rid the pest that she was.

The finest to compose could not play our pain.

She had been a bad baby, snuck out of her homelands in rebellion. Mom was busy with things and she was often left to her own devices, now don't get it twisted Reign was there, she was there to take care of the pup and teach her the tricks of life but Hel could slip off unnoticed and wasn't often scolded for it. But she didn't ever leave the borders either. This time she had, curiosity had gotten the better of the teenager and she had slipped off further then she meant. Not that anybody would notice, fuck 'um right?

By this point in her stay Hel had lost a chunk of her accent, part remained but it had turned into more of a punky type sound the much more suited her attitude then her Jamaican one did. She almost liked it better. The demonic hierath that swallowed her being was nice, a decent temperature for the thick coated, short haired, female that wandered the restless halls of stone but it was nothing like this place. Here it was open and free, the winds rolled through high grasses that tickled her pelt and brought a smile to her face. A gesture her body didn't often make here since she had arrived here.

Hel lifted a large cranium towards the sky, eyes closed as she took in the surroundings with her soul. She let out a loud bark before she shook herself free of cares and began to run. She let long legs stretch and pull as she raced through the brown fingers that stretched to her torso and higher. She closed her eyes and dipped her head as she went faster and faster, her tendons burning with the exercise her body craved. She didn't get this in the Hierath so she was taking full advantage of her time out. Loosing track of time she noticed the sky had began to darken, and that's when she realized her reality. She was lost.

There was only a brief panic before she once more physically shook herself free of worries and chuckled. Wouldn't be so hard right? Just follow her own scent. Shrugging the red warrior placed a nose to the ground and began to robotically track herself. At least thirty minutes passed before she listed her head to see her progress. Which was null, she had just followed the circles she traced in the dirt and foliage.“Fawk...” She growled, lifting her head back towards the heavens. What was once a sunny sky was replaced by stars and a creeping moon. The colors of pride had been chased away by shades of purple and blue, twinkling eyes taunted her with a disapproving 'I told you so...' and she stuck a salmon tongue out at them.

The bloodied warrior sighed as she gave up finding her way back and just began to walk in the direction she thought was right. Neither her or I know if this was the right direction, time would tell. It grew later and later as she hopelessly drew more and more into the lost and a yawn escaped her mouth with a soft whine, she'd have to sleep here tonight there was no hope for home now. Hel made a small grimace from the side of her face as she made a few circles in the plush straw and plopped down heavily in her makeshift bed.

She didn't miss them until now. The fires in her heart had chased away her love and family. The punk rebellion in her soul kicked them all to the dirt until the night creeped in and with it brought the waves of loneliness. Until this moment she hadn't noticed how much she actually needed her makeshift home. It was cold, she was usually curled next to mom, surrounded by the majority, if not all, of her siblings. Their body heats seeping into one another like a burning pile of leaves that would never die out. She whined a little as she stared at the stars and drifted off into a deep sleep.

She didn't have dreams, just emptiness and darkness that rocked her softly. She didn't hear the demon creeping, and suddenly she woke in excruciating pain, it was like fire ripped through her tail and shot through her entire being. A demonic scream ripped from her throat, a mixture between a growl and a shrill howl, she lept up to her toes with tears in her eyes, the black stripe that raced down her spine to the base of her tail was consumed almost at the end by a light creature, she couldn't see it well but she could tell it wasn't a wolf and it was small. And something about it terrified her.

Hel couldn't make anything else out, a pattern of some sort littered across her pelt, all Hel knew is it had her tail and she was in excruciating pain. As tears streamed down her face she shouted“GIT DA FAWK OFFA ME BITCH...!” The poor child screamed in agony as she began to buck her behind up in the air while her front stayed down before flinging itself up like a bucking horse. The pain was too great, she could feel heat and wet seeping around where the creature had hold and she knew she was bleeding. She knew it was bad.

She had more than braced herself for the sharp fangs of retribution, but they didn't arrive, and at the same time, she ground her teeth further into the small canine's still-developing tail. Not here to make a picnic dinner under the twinkling stars.

A growling rumble vibrated through her and inevitably through the prong of her teeth onto the rod of the teenager's tail. A warning she was here for business, and their words had little effect on her actions. Bucking would only aid her in ripping into more tendons and delicate nerves, as she clenched down to steady herself, still trying to anchor her back legs.

She violently shook her head again, whipping it side to side, attempting to cause more lacerations and weaken the base of the tail further. She could feel the wearing of bone against her molars and knew she was close to gaining her quick prize. In addition to the tail, she would hope the child gained another demon to their nightmares after this twilight encounter.

The finest to compose could not play our pain.

Sorry for the delay, my muse has been super low due to mental health stuff. Hope this is okay!

there was fire and ice running through her veins, every tendril of her soul burned like fire but stung like the sharp fangs of an icy river nipping at her nerve endings. She'd never known pain like this, how her vision would fade to a deep red, the edges of her vision fuzzy, and then they'd flash white, everything would fade and the young geisha would growl, trying to hold on to what she could, stay alive way the game now and she had to win. This demon that held her tail was unlike anything she'd ever met before, a white dragon hidden in the darkness, one that would forever plague her nightmares.

Everytime she pulled away, trying to free from the fangs of this beast, she felt herself separate more. She could feel those burning ice daggers digging deeper and deeper, she could feel the moisture pooling around, Hel could feel the bones pulling and separating further then they were meant. Why? What did she do?“Lemme Fuckin' goooo!” She wailed in agonizing terror, her organ beat so hard in her chest she felt like it would explode. Though at this point the girl wished for death, feeling nothing would feel so much better then this. Tears poured from her lilac pools, the clear begging liquid dropping below the girl as she buckled and pulled and twisted.

How much more could this appendage take? Apparently it was much stronger then she ever imaged because at this point she was praying to have the ability of a lizard. Scream and split, leaving her red furry thing behind for her predator and run to hide under rocks... Why weren't wolves built like [/I]that[/I]? Whimpering and squealing she prayed for anything to happen and free her from this torture. What had she done to deserve such a punishment?“Please!” Hel screamed, her voice a gutteral shout, horse from the panicking noises she had made at volumes she didn't know existed for such sounds.“Jus le'me alone!” She begged, turning pleading eyes to the unknown creature. How was she going to explain this to anybody back home... She was so grounded.

Content Warning
This post contains content that may be unsettling to some readers, including:
  • Gore.

The terror she was inflicting was feeding her stomach and soul more than the fill of a young buck she had devoured just yesterday. Their cries and pleas were as empty as the shrills they emitted, she was devoid of any emotion, of any empathy. She had one goal and it was to gain this tail, to gain another that had nightmares of the terrorising feline.

Ears flattened against her skull, she could feel the give and be ready to take her prize and leave the pup to relive their horror for the rest of the night. They would squelch around the bloodied mess that her fangs created. The child's crimson blood now completely coated her face, staining her ivory and grey fur, but she had little care for vanity.

With a final tug, and plunging her molars deeper into the crack and splitting bone, she was left with the tail free and loose off the wolf. It was wet within the cage of her stained teeth. The fur was all slick and gelled together. And with her prize, she cackled, eyeing the young wolf in pain. Watching them writhe and wilt from her unwarranted fury.

And then she left the scene, left them to their misery and to live with the consequences of slumbering within her vicinity. Taking the tail with her, only to deposit it in the extending fields elsewhere.

She could hear the muffled growling as she turned her head to snap at the cat, but she fell short with a snap inches from the creature. She could see the fire in its eyes and almost swore she could see otherworldly white flames licking from the demons body, suddenly she felt teeth close further then what she thought was possible and could hear the squelching and squishing of her flesh between the monster teeth. It hurt more then she thought it could, she was already in so much pain. The cat flattened it's ears again the snowy white cranium, mouth drenched in bloodied frenzy and Hel watched in agony as she bit harder and there was a splitting crack through her body.

There was a tug and she fell forward onto the ground, her body landing in the dirt and adding to her dastardly appearance, panting with eyes filled with milk her amethyst colors were near invisible as they gazed at the scene behind her. It was only brief, as if the cat thought she would attack, but at this point she was too tired from the struggle that was ensuing and the blood loss that had been sped by her actions was causing her to feel slightly dizzy. Mauve stood with her front half splattered with the life force of herself, her once beloved tail dangling from the demonesses mouth, Hel let out a loud whimper and cry while she watched the animal speed off with her appendage, saying nothing. A chuckle was emitted, one that tore the girl to pieces as she sobbed on the ground, her sides heaving with her sobs of sorrow for the lost fluffy thing.

The thing departed quickly and she laid on her stomach panting in a pool of her own blood and tears. Hel craned her neck to look at she wished she hadn't, where her beautiful tail once was had been replaced with a bloodied stump, blood pouring from her hindquarters as she let out another sob. Gasping Hel tried to catch her breath but she wasn't able too and began to hyperventilate, her sides heaving and collapsing. She watched as her vision wavered and twisted, she was getting so dizzy as the stars came in. She felt the ground shift and she twisted and fell to her side, her head hurts, her ass hurt, she felt so light and suddenly she vomited next to herself, most likely from the pain, and passed out.

The crimson geisha hadn't been unconscious long, no more then Ten minutes, when she was awoken by the pain again. She let out an agonizing howl, gutteral and gruff as she woke, it was burning with the cuts of a thousand icicles, she had to get home. Groaning she slowly lifted herself to her paws, hoisting a heavy build to four feet before she began to drag herself back in the way she hoped was home. She didn't even know anymore, she just knew she needed help.

“Ahhh shhh... Ahhh shittt... Ahh fff... ahh fff... ffffuck...” She whimpered pitifully, with each paw placed on the ground her body sent electrical shocks down her spine, in her wake she left a trail of blood, tears, and prints that dragged with her efforts. She had to get home. The striped warrior didn't have the strength to let out another howl, at this point all she could do was pray to her gods that she would either find her own way home or somebody else would find her... And hopefully somebody that might let her keep all the rest of her limbs...
