Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The soul of Pavaki had left, leaving behind a grieving friend. But he wouldn't have had it any other way.

Or, so he had thought.

Bright morning light seemed to shine directly into his eyes; or, at least his one good eye. With a shift of his head, he was saved from the harshness of the sun. The fact that he could move to begin with surprised him. The last he remembered, he could hardly lift his head. But as he opened his eyes and raised his cranium, it was like he was young again. Well, younger anyway. Not like he was on his deathbed which he was sure of only moments ago. But here he was, awake and alert.

This wasn't what he was expecting when he died. Ending up in a strange new place. But it would allow him to live a second life. Was he really ready to deal with everything that life came with? He supposed he didn't have much of a choice. With a small sigh, he forced himself onto his limbs. Though a bit shaky at first, they brought him to the edge of a large lake. It was quite beautiful as he looked out across it, the morning rays reflecting off the nearly still surface.

As his gaze lowered down in front of him, he could see various fish swimming about. His stomach rumbled slightly at the sight. Lowering himself closer to the water, he hunched over still as a statue as he waited for the perfect time to strike.

Killian had been walking around, doing nearly nothing lately. With a thought of Mauve, he had an idea to check on her. Though... He didn't really know where to go, and he didn't fancy sniffing around until he caught her scent. People would think he'd gone mad. Happening upon the Lake near the territory of the Plains, he marched over until he spotted the old man. He was bent over, cream and pale, near the surface.

He walked a bit closer, seeing he was trying to fish. The young man calls out softly, approaching from the side. Make sure they could see him, and all that jazz. A short wag of his tail was given as a friendly gesture. "Can I join?" he said quietly, his eyes drifting from the guy's face to the surface of the water. He didn't sit down near the other though; he... was oft respectful of elders. Just the culture he was raised in.

Elderly folks usually were seers and soothsayers, voodoo queens livin' in a swamp. They were always old and they were always wise. "I know how to fish, mate." He added in case the man didn't feel like teaching.
