Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

  • Death

As skilled of a huntress as Luna was, the little moon nymph had made one silly little mistake that day; and it had been one that would eventually cost her her own life.

She ran away -- or attempted -- to run away from the angry elk bull as the leg of one of his ewe's hung from her maws. The femora had seen the carcass of the doe within a feild, and would take a peice for herself to keep without second thought -- but little to her own knowledge was the presence of the herds leader, who had been maddened at the sight of a wolf infiltrating his herd and desecrating on of their members.

Lunaria hadn't quite known how long she'd been running for at this point, and while the thought of dropping the leg within her maws to loosen the weight of her escaped was considered, a wolf's greed knew no bounds...the girl was determined to escape death with the meal that was rightfully hers.

-- Or so she thought.

The girl turned, seaglass eyes widened and drool stringing from her lips in pure exhaustion. Luna was sure she had lost the beast which trailed her rear; only to feel herself being flung several feet from the air.

Her lithe frame tossed by a pair of antlers.

-- and to land the ground again.

No matter how many times she'd fly and hit the ground, screaming in pain with every impact against the earth as she yelped out in pain, the angry bull continued to trample her with it's crown until Luna's body finally went limp.

By the time she'd stop hitting the ground her bones felt like dust, and neck twisted the wrong direction. Heavy pants left her lips for a few minutes before the moon's light;

Had went out.
