Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

She had become rather fond of the grove during the brief time she'd spent there, and figured she'd stay put for a while - a day or two, at most, before hitting the road again. Settling wasn't something Tavra wanted to do in the near future, but she fancied that Sundance Grove could perhaps be a place to offer her exactly what she needed.

Trying not to get ahead of herself, the crimson Mayfair pulled herself up onto her paws. She shook the dust from her pelt and preened a few twigs from the fur of her tail before stepping forward and into the light.

The Summer sun was hot on her back, and her stride was lengthened to allow its warmth to ease the aches in her slim shoulders. It felt good, and Tavra picked her way quietly through the wildflower meadow for no reason other than simply because she could.

Continuing her time within the temperate, she sometimes found herself coming to the Sundance Grove. A temporary home to call at times, as she found herself often laying in a daze between the flowers and enjoying the smells it brought. Sleeping in the midst of it all as the fireflies came out during the summer ; a beauty to see and she sometimes wondered whether when it was time to tear herself away.. But not yet, Miriam thought. Not just yet, for the signs that all were, it told her to stay within the temperate and see what it all had, and to meet everyone that was.

As she walked through the grove with a smile upon her face, in the distance was there another. Red in beauty, although very small. She stood out like a thumb amongst the more purple galore before her, and yet suited the trees so well that wondered if she was a forest fairy. Miriam approached, "hello! are you here to see the flowers?" she said in a friendly and warm tone.

A fly buzzed past Tavra's snout and she huffed a breath through her nostrils to encourage it away. It left her be, but only for a few seconds before it returned to hover at her whiskers. The russet Mayfair curled her upper lip, a warning that she swiftly realised the insect wouldn't understand, followed by a clack of teeth. She hadn't intended to catch it but she did, so she swallowed and carried on.

Wherever there were flowers, there were bugs aplenty. Possibly one of the negative things about the grove. Tavra had noticed that the flora attracted all sorts of wildlife. She'd watched a squirrel family forage on the forest floor just the previous evening before scurrying up a tree trunk to return to their home; a hare had nibbled at some leaves before her wanderings scared it off; bats swooped at fireflies in the night.

The world was fascinating. It was a pity she couldn't stop long enough to truly appreciate it all.

The arrival of another had the nomad pause in her tracks, and she was quick to find the starlight gaze of her newest acquaintance. A female, thankfully, for that alone was enough to slacken her muscles of any tension that'd tightened in them. “Hey,” she greeted, taking a moment to eye the lilac fae with interest. I think I'd rather look at you... “Nah, just trying to figure out my next action plan. You from around here?”

She watched in a bit of amusement as the other 'played' with the bugs. Buzzing around her, perhaps with the assumption she was apart of the flowers with her dazzling colors. Although held some alabastar, the stark russet upon her pelt could not be missed, and any would see in the difference of so. It isn't too surprising for the bugs to hover over someone who may seem as color as the nectar they desire. Miriam was fortunate enough to be the opposite, one of lamer colors then the other. Almost a slight envy that was washed away, for she appreciated her own moonlit tones, but beloved the fire-sky of the other.

Miriam shook her head, "I am but a traveler, mildly familiar with the land." She knew some places, better then others and a general.. Grasp of so the land around ; although only surface knowledge, and nothing that she believed could truly be helpful. It was a wonder, where the other was from, and could only hope to ask, or await the other to give notice. But she stood, distances away, smilingly idly at the stranger.

She was pretty. Tavra made no secret of her appreciation, for her half-lidded metallic gaze swept over the she-wolf's fine figure to take in her femininity. “A traveller, huh?” Tavra's fox tail gave a curious twitch as she sought her companion's moonlight eyes, “me too.” A nomad, a roamer without a place to belong. "Home" was a word she'd used to describe the places she might rest her head, like among the territories of Elkshire and Little Haven, but she was yet to find one that would rouse the feeling in her that she expected.

“I'm Tavra,” the young Mayfair offered, “what's your name?”

"These forests are quite a lovely place to roam. The region holds much to be discovered." Many were travelers, and yet at the same time Miriam had come across quite a few who within the land that were of packs. Some were relatively nice, others may be a bit awkward at times, but overall a rather joyous moment she would think. At some point she would need to venture into the mountains ; but felt there was much more to see within these parts. It was too tempting at the moment to depart.

"A pleasure, Tavra. I am Miriam, Miriam Iris Willows."
She greeted gently with but a pleasant smile, and felt inwardly that her name suited her quite well. Something about it brought a spirit, as the fire that she looked itself ; though alone that she was.. Something about that didn't seem correct — she belonged to shine bright somewhere, somewhere where others could see her well.

Her voice was light, airy - the words she spoke were 'floaty', and she could think of no other way to describe them. There was definitely something mystical about the moonlit beauty, something that drew Tavra in, and she was struck suddenly with the desire to further explore whatever unfamiliar feeling it was that Miriam instilled within her.

She stepped forward, curious, and swept her tongue over an upper canine. Miriam,” Tavra repeated, finding the rogue's name as lovely and elegant as the body she inhabited, “well, this place is nice and all, but-” the dragoness' smile widened, something mischievous and suggestive twinkling in the copper of her eyes as she aimed to flatter, “you outshine everything I've seen in these forests, and I think I'd rather discover you.”

Bold, Tavra reached to test the furs of her newest acquaintance's neck with a delicate nose.

Miriam could not help but think of @Sagittarius. If she was the enchantress of the night, then the one before her was the mistress of the sun. Dazed in beauty and words that caressed just as warmly, it'd make anyone heart feel light and skippable — and she too smiled and beamed at the other, all too much within a liking of such compliments, "you are as bright as the sun, it's mistress within the light," so she said within the matching of her mind, "as radiant as the words you speak," and an allowance of touch of so.

She wondered whether they were one in the same, but a shapeshifter of the daylight and night. Both, equally attractive and sly with words, "but surely you belong somewhere as equally as welcoming as your warmth." Was the other looking for a home, she wondered? Or nomadic like herself?

"You are as bright as the sun," the fae responded, and Tavra flicked an ear with interest. Flattery didn't reach her often, probably because her own smart mouth prevented strangers from seeing whatever good might be left in her. She liked to hear them, though, especially from a wolfess whose beauty outshone anything she could ever hope to be. Tavra purled a low sound as she drew in the perfume Miriam wore, the rich scent of florals and ripe fruits that she drank deep.

Femininity at its finest.

Something familiar shivered its way along her spine; Tavra had convinced several girls to share her bed since the incident that forced her to discover and embrace her true sexuality. “If I am of the sun,” the rogue prowled forward to circle tightly around Miriam's hindquarters so that she could trail her body suggestively along the length of her own, fox tail lashing, “then what good is a sun without her moon?” Tavra smiled knowingly and reached again, thirsty for more, and attempted to nibble at the tresses of Miriam's tufted cheek.

Lately and awakening emerged within Miriam, the temperate an alluring place. Pure of heart though she knew what could not be, for the leisure of another but she must wait ; she knew. For the time someone would arrive to truly win the maiden, and yet.. Her heart could not but soar with a new awakening she never knew existed, for the enchantment of the night and the day was all too amouring to resist, and finding herself drinking within each word and coercing to give. And yet, Miriam remained strong, subtly she must deny such physical advances, but her tongue continued otherwise, songs of lust.

But would that be count as a play? A nibbling along her heart, a throbbing of the heart that pumped, but the moon-lit maiden moved away. Not in a disgust, but a playful matter as her tail touched the other and she smiled, "but the sun and the moon are in an endless chase." All the more playful she chuckled, and who was to deny two fair ladies, Sappho in the making ; to run in the warm, sunset of this grove together in but an oh-so playful tag.

It was hardly an embrace, but Tavra felt heat in the pit of her abdomen to imagine herself entwined with such a creature. Miriam was lovely in every possible way: from the pearl of her eyes to the music of her voice, she was perfection embodied. The dragoness purled a low note as she carried on caressing the silken tresses of her companion's cheek and throat, her own body practically vibrating with anticipation.

She was determined, then, to win the affections of this beauty.

Miriam stepped aside, however, and Tavra felt the void left between them. She did not hesitate to follow, so eager to close the gap once again, and a chase was initiated. The dragoness, enraptured, did not hesitate to pursue. She frolicked with the enchantress through the trees and wildflowers, deliberately trailing at the rear so she might admire the moon-wolf's trim waist and fine hindquarters, until they were each dancing around one another like courting songbirds.

Enchantment was won, an carving in her own heart of this sun-brand, rightly tossled next to the nightling of @Sagittarius. But as a maiden, she felt her body could only be given by someone to truly be one with. Courtship and mateship, and did not give anything to the lushed woman ; but enjoyed every minor touch and warmth that was given.

Through the forest were there laughter and energy, an amazement of beauties frolicking through in a blissfull dream. But there would be a time to depart, and could only wish they would meet again.
