Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Niklaus

She found the scent of a possum roaming the area, fresh enough where she found it within the crag, but not enough where she could find it within the same area. Orlaith prowled through, her nose to the grindstone and through the forests to find it's trail, and catching it so would start to lead herself out of Vanderfell and near the plains. She was still relatively close, confident enough to catch without going too far and bring back more to the caches.

Her nose twitched lightly — she could smell it's close.

An early morning, it would seem.

He was getting the hang of things now. Although the majority of his memory was still lost to the wind, Klaus was beginning to regain bits and pieces of what was left of his purpose and motivations. One of which: find the girl from the glade again. Second: keep himself from starving to death until then. So that was his singular goal for today - hunt, kill, fill his aching belly. He began his trek with a positive attitude, sticking his nose to the ground and keeping it there until he caught a whiff of something a rogue could catch on his lonesome. Elk, deer and other larger beasts would have to wait until a day that he was no longer alone.

Alone. He was focusing on that a lot more recently, and it wasn't doing him much good. All of that pent up frustration and confusion - it was going to eventually go somewhere. He just hoped that it would go away, and soon. He couldn't stand feeling all of these emotions all at once. But most of all: he hated feeling alone. Especially after that morning.

He had travelled quite a ways before the first promising smell wafted through his nostrils. It was something he couldn't pin a name on - but he could only guess it was small by how heavy the scent marker sat in the earth. After a bit of tracking, his assumptions were proven correct, as the pawprints left in the ground by this animal were no larger than a rabbit's.

Sensing he was getting close, he knelt into a crouch, eyes narrowing in concentration. Soon, he could distract himself with something other than the blazing trail of thoughts left behind by that .. that ..

He let out an exasperated, rough sigh. Focus. Dinner.

As she came close the smell of another came to her nose. Her fur flaired up, as he was awfully close to her prey and she'd rather ruin it for both of them then have any fucker steal it, especially someone she didn't know. A loner filled the air, and she barked, "fucker! that's my prey!" so the guard demanded as she approached with a high head, and a tail swinging in the air.

Awful a lot of aggression for someone so hungry. Although Orlaith, could've just caught the prey first.. She'd rather rage at someone and teach manners how they should check if anyone else is hunting. Maybe it's not Vanderfell territory, but damn straight is she saying it belongs to them. A snarl lightly placed to her face as she looked at this fucker crouching in the bush.

Not a moment to be spared, Klaus was approaching upon his first meal in a couple of days. Admittedly, he was reaching the point where hunger began to stave off any other important emotions, such as sympathy or generosity. His mind was racing on a one-track path to dinner - coupled with the sexual frustration that had plagued his body the past couple of days, and he was a delicately-wrapped package of fuck around and find out.

So it was not a surprise when he had missed the scent of another hunter on the rise. In fact, he had completely disregarded her entirely, his body focused entirely on the rabbit ahead of him. The first sign that he wasn't alone in his pursuit was the loudest.

"Fucker! That's my prey!" A booming, guttural warning, surprising coming from the source - a female with reddish markings and dark green eyes, now narrowed in his direction. In response, his body tensed up, already quite literally locked and lowered into a pounce before she had even approached. His face must have resembled something short of annoyance, but he did his best to match her energy. "Says who?" He spits back, still retaining some odd form of charming in-between his biting, jesting words.

He raised an eyebrow in challenge, nearly begging her to attack him instead of the ... rapidly retreating smell of rabbit. Oh, well.

Orlaith.. Was not smart.

As the man cocked an eyebrow, it was a bait ; one that she was falling for, and especially since the warrior deemed she didn't like him or even his attitude, which only certified her reasoning for charging at him. He was large, far more dark then she was and yet mass was a key difference ; she found herself being brawn, though no one could say if that meant on fat, or by muscle itself. She was a large lady, not technically fat but by no means could she be an agile agent.

So she charged, right for him. A bull in the ruling, her hackles raised and mouth snarled, before she tucked it tightly to her chest and charged at the man. Orlaith was 100% ready to beat down someone for 'taking' her prey, or even just near the possibility. Also, she deemed she didn't like his attitude and took it upon herself to fix!

A fight would break out, which left Orlaith causing some nasty marks on him but not without one on herself. Marks leaking down her hind quarters from the attack of the other.. A fight for a long time until a draw out out and a departure within the end. Although she counted as a win, in reality there was none, only two wolves who fought for a meal that was forgotten, or better yet.. Stolen, by some stray coyote or another predator altogether.

Only to go back home with a newfound scar, and a lowkey enemy floating about.
