Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Ara saw Raiden spend time with their dad. Though he was in their life she couldn't say she truly had a self to self with him, especially not with her siblings around all the time. He either was with them, their mother, or striding around in patrols ; and some part of her felt needy, a desire for attention from the man named father — and she sought him.

Bounding out of the den, Ara zoomed to find @Dirge and — snap at his tail ; though remembering her mother teaching her to control her teeth.. It was gentle snapping, a ploy to grab his attention as the daredevil often lacked words, not speaking unless she felt like it.

He heard the scampering of footfalls behind him, the rustling of the brush. If he hadn't been so close to the rendezvous, he might have thought it a small, wild creature thinking it could take him out at the hocks. But as it were—though still a possibility—he let that sound come closer, his head only turning when it was close enough to strike. It was nothing more than a black blur and a mess of gangly, rapidly growing limbs; a head held low in fluid motion and reaching.

Ara grabbed his tail as he turned on her and he reached for her own tail. She may have been taking after him, all in for pulling tails and working those sharp, tearing teeth, but he still held the title of master tail-puller. No doubt she had picked up that bit from his temperament, if genetics didn't have some cruel hand in it. His youngest were growing swift; this was the time he reveled in, if only for the sake that they were more apt to handle a bit of roughhousing as they deemed willing to take.

She yipped loudly, not expecting him to grab her tail just as she did back. Her immediate reaction was to let go and to bark at his face, small puppy growls as she showed her teeth in an anger. A flustered action on the unexpected, perhaps a bit too aggressive then just playing as she would attempt to bite his snout away from her prized behind.
