Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Ara remembered her mothers lessons well, and the attacks that were given to herself by her littermates. She was bold firecracker, trying to dominate the den in a hierarchy by bolding her way through. Yet, it was had proven to be unsuccessful near end, only given bust a justice to her ego for a momentous occasion, before falling down within that pride. She started to prowl through, sneaking around to try and get the better out of her siblings in a surprise attack — but alone. She would not do well if the group decided to go against her, just as her two brothers had done.

When she though of the matriarch as well... Eyes crossed to the leaves that scattered to the ground, and careful paws gingerly touching them. When she stepped hard there was a crunch, but when she lifted just gently and continued on in a slow prowl — the noise was minimized. Though she tried her best to find a pathway of pure silence, to be like that of a snake within the night. She was skulking through the bright day in a practice in front of their home den.

Scorpius watched from the shadows of the den.

He had noticed Ara's vies for dominance, even before he could put a word to them. Even now he knew what she was doing only in that primal urge to resist her. To be the one to come out on top. To remind her that while she was a princess, he was still a prince. And princes did not bow.

But he did not wish to present himself just yet as what he knew himself to be. So, rather than seek out opportunities to best his siblings, he decided to stand alongside them, and perhaps learn enough through them, and of Ara, that he one day might find it within his reach to challenge her himself, and best her then. A prince did not bow, but he needed those who would.

He watched her today with a silent sort of curiosity. Having touched leaves before, and have heard the noise they made, he observed his sister's attempts to silence herself as she prowled, and made note of those slight changes she made in her stepping, of how she eased or leaned into her weight. These things would be important, after all. When he thought her distracted, he would slide from the den himself and seek to prowl behind her, implementing her own strategies to see how close he might get to her before she noticed he was following her.

She had been 'training,' especially when the move Scorpius pulled another time gave Ara an interest.. She started to focus on the shadows more often. Especially with mothers training upon the eagle, and knowing to watch out far more then usual — a child with no skills like herself, was noticed well. She could tell with the steps through the den and the shifting of shadows in the distance, the figures moving along the den that wasn't away from her, but moreso following the path she took..

Ara turned around and snapped! Challenging the one who followed her as she unleashed her puppy fangs upon him, but didn't charge — just mocked in silence how he should come forth and fight her.
