Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

The absence of one caused fog to cast over a great part of her mind. Where? Why? Come to me, she willed as she ascended upward. The rocky path was a treacherous one, and Hydra nearly lost her footing in her distracted mindset. It was rare that she let herself think, and think alone—but this absence required the full breadth of her attention, and her motions were largely mechanical as the woman moved on autopilot. A path unfamiliar to her here, but that she had traveled many a time upon Moonspear; where might this one lead?

Climbing a winding path, the matriarch breathed as she met a flat road. At a glance it seemed the place offered little—but Hydra, walking nearer to the edge, felt as though she could see the whole world from here. A new view, one she had not yet found but was glad to. But it was not the view she heeded as she reclined to her haunches and slid down to lay there, one foreleg dangling idly over the bottomless edge—it was this newfound feeling within her. Hydra's heart suddenly felt fuller, and at once she abruptly rose into a seated position again, alert and vigilant as she looked behind her.

Closer. Here, but not; Hydra turned to the horizon and howled for @Alya, deaf to her own sisters howl but no longer feeling the absence of her within her soul. Spinning on heel to descend and seek @Lyra the matriarch would not permit herself to believe that this was some trick of the mind or the world. Could not, now that she felt she could breathe a little bit deeper. There was no fear within her for her adventurous sister; who better than her, to navigate this world and glean information from any she might encounter?

Descending down the spiral route, her thinking at least was far more clear as she picked her way down from The View, convinced already that this was more than simply a feeling. It was familiar, and Hydra felt it something she could rely on—and so she would, for as long as it took.
