Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Beyond the bison herd she discovered a day prior was fleeting trees in the distance. She saw that as a hope, perhaps a forest was to be near. Though firstly she returned to the others, and spent the day snoozing away, dreaming, of a home of promise. When she rose up it was just the morning, sun settling in and carefully removed herself to not wake the others.

Too curious, she was, to see beyond the trail of trees. A following through that of the sleeping meadows and golden hour rising through. A golden wolf, through the plains in a curiosity, a thirst for knowledge. The true beauty to come was to that of the golden glade — like scattering woodlands, a coverage to the plains itself. Hedges and bushes laid through the land, a forest, and yet, not. As she approached closer a blush to the face as it felt right, like to shine through to the place. She stepped closer to a hedge, a plucking of a berry and a desire for more — but stopped.

The forest glowed in the morning sun, for the true golden hour had arrived to this land. Uriel gasped in an awe of wonder.

Thoughts seemed to run wild when you least wanted them to, how her past seemed to haunt her dreams with such fervor and how the group of three was displaced from such a lovely location. She had confided in Rannoch that she was fearful of being on her own, scared of leaving the frozen forest but she also loved the ice covered timbers and how they made her think of the place she grew up. A tiger, a tiger had claimed their forest. Who would have thought of such a thing, perhaps she had died and been reborn into a book of such outlandish ideas?

A chuckle escaped her lips as the healer roamed the location that the trio had currently placed themselves. She was curious to the herbs that could he found, what could be used and stored as the colder months came closer and closer. So far she had come across the usual suspects, lavender being the easiest to find. The white flower of Camomile, the leafy stalks of feverfew. A few picks here and she had a small sampling in her dull green pouch, she could recall each location she found them so that she could go back when they found their base camp. She would stock up on these, picking what she could and digging up roots to replant the most useful.

As she moved without much of a destination, only looking from each location without the thought that it could he the right place for the three of them. That was until she had seen the golden woman, Uriel, her form stopped in front of a glade that caused the sand hued healer to pause herself. She could see what caused the sound that came from her lips as she moved to her side, oh this was perfect. Simple perfect. A smile curving her lips as she moved her sun colored eyes to Uriel, what a good find.

"Mmm?" Rannoch mumured as he began to stir. Uriel's early departure had caught his attention, and he woke in a groggy haze. He rose his head slowly and yawned, seeing her as she slipped into the underbrush. He pushed himself onto all fours and broke into a lazy lope, following the scent trail that she had left in her wake.

It didn't take him long to catch up to Uriel, and fortunately, Sunneva was there, too. He pulled up alongside them, blinking into the harsh, golden light until his vision cleared. A haven appeared before them; trees were scattered upon the rolling hills, providing shelter against the elements. It seemed ... perfect.

Rannoch turned to Uriel, lifting a brow. "How did you find this place?" he asked and then glanced at Sunneva, wondering what she made of it.

A golden view, the hour of beauty. A gaze casting over to the shadows of the land, as the sky was slowly reaching higher within the morning. With autumn coming to the land as well, even without the shine of the sun.. The forest was coated in beauty of a yellow glow, hints of the occasional red and orange flowers may be — but overall a royal view. A golden glade, to be dubbed in so.

Though her slight adventure was not to be ignored, as soon Sunneva came from behind, as well as admiring it's beauty. She had said nothing, but a gentle moment between the two on a serene view of the world itself. Though soon Rannoch appeared, and she smiled at him.

"Beyond the bison herd near here, I had seen a growing forest.. Though did not expect to see this."
