Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

@Miriam

Pheobe's injury seems to have been stabilizing well, but the hen still had trouble flying until the healing process was complete. The archer was still shaken from the other day and was keeping an eye on her, almost obsessively, to see if she'd doing been alright.-- and in the meantime, they continued to travel somewhere that might've been safe; the mountainous heights. He did not bother explaining his departure to anyone else in the northern pack he hailed from, as he simply wasn't close enough to any of them to give much of a shit. The only priority on his mind right now was making sure his partner was safe and sound in a place that could serve as a resting place for her.

Near the vastness of a lake would the boy finally stumble across a field of various plants -- wasting no time foregoing through each and every one of them. He was no healthcare expert, but there had to be something here that lessened the hen's pain....

Though her meeting with Bronco never came, Bluewater lake was always one that was called a paradise for herbalists. Her paws grazed against the salmonberries, a ripe picking before that of the official snowfall to come forward. Though the berries themsevles were harmless, as her tongue swifted for a delightful bite of a singular reddish berry.. Their true property lied within the leaves, bitten and crushed to smooth over pains and burns. Not only delicious, Miriam noted, but a simply delightful herb to burns, especially to the fires that wolves fear.

As she munched quietly on the few, her silverlight caught the sight of a wandering man. Earthen to the touch, but smelled similarly to the winter season and the coating of a pack. Curiously enough, she called out, "Hello there, searching for herbs as well?" Miriam said, noting the rather serious tone he seemed to be taken. Most do not wander to the bluewater lake just for a scenery, especially a man this his presence.

So it would seem it did not take long for another to find him, which did not help his nerves as of late. Pheobe sat perched against his back rather than the floor this time, but had no means of flying if he wished her to be sent away for safety.  For now, the presence of the other had been virtually ignored as he forged through foliage -- in hopes that it was not him that had caught her attention. After all, the scent which drifted in their direction was that of several others, and they might've merely been passing by to return to their pack. Surely it was not Kaster they were walking towards, right?

Of course it fucking was, and after the stranger chalked away the silence to inquire his motives, it was practically impossible to ignore them now, wasn't it?

A signature frown would etch the corners of his mouth as he lifted his cranium to regard the woman nearby, turning his rear away from her to keep Pheobe away from their line of sight. A wintery gaze would regard the woman silently for a moment -- a delicate nymph wrapped in moonlit silk, with a pair of unwarrantedly curious eyes that were startlingly bright. Another moment of silence ran over the both of them before Kaster eventually turned his head away, a soft huff of air leaving his nostrils in dismissal as he stuck his muzzle near the earth again. "I might be," the prince answered simply,

 "Why?"

A cold responds, but she could not falter while just smiling a bit awkwardly as so. He was searching for some and likewise as she was.. Except though trouble that may be, she wondered if he had difficulty finding what was needed, "Do you need help? I know some of the herbs that are around and could direct," she inquired, but not stepping further. Such a man may know his way around, or would not desire her own help.. Miriam should respect it, instead of pushing as she has done so within a past time.

He did not respond to the woman at first as he studied both her words and her expressions -- in fact, the woodlander was contemplating not responding at all and just walking away. Rude, yes, but he did not care much for charms and generosities towards people he didn’t know enough to get a good read on. As a plus, he was currently in a bad mood. Yet Kaster could use the information regardless. He’d be lying if he said he was educated in this kind of stuff….

A puff of air was snorted out his nostrils to release the dirt particles that became stuck in it, and his glacial stare was set back onto the woman. “And what herbs aid in broken tissue? Specifically, a bite wound?” the woodlander asked briefly and to-the-point -- he would not tell of details...yet.

A tail slightly wagged behind, low in gait as warmth bloomed within her heart at the other accepting such advice. Though Miriam wasn't expecting the other to even mention of help or simply shoo' her away. She had met his types on occasion, and they were ones that always preferred to do on their time, and by themselves — even if the dire times would come. She was fully prepared to accept that, though perhaps leave some that could help on his pathway.. If she had an inclination what he had desired.

"A stika spruce is well-used and found easily within the mountains," she explained, a paw gesturing to even a bit away to provide that the tree that was needed was right nearby. It was also well that the herbs were not only well loved to the bluewater lake, but even simply the mountains. Even where the stepped was surrounded by various flora that could help, but as her particular mentioned of broken tissue.. Her first thought came to that.

"Using the oil on the inner bark and as poultice, to apply onto the wound," Miriam continued with a well soft smile.
