Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

how swiftly did so much return to normalcy.

the number of servants grew; the ranks of guardians swelled. khaemwaset was never without his own retinue now, and today he ordered them into the oasis' eastern heart. there was much to explore, and of course the dark-crowned boy had an eternal eye for gifts which might comfort neith.

he tested himself across the dunes now, a shadow which moved swiftly against the warning shouts of fellahin. none could tame the prince; he tossed a heady laugh into the air and moved faster against golden shadows, glancing up in awed rapture as a distant falcon cried loud above him. "Horus! race me!"

the Pharaoh moved, searching the earth for more of her people. her tracks were swift to fade within the sand, her step light and delicate. the sound of her son was then heard, and the Pharaoh turned to see him race against her young falcon.
how fast he was! was there ever so swift a young man?! but the spirit of Horus would test him, and his endurance. to the fellahin, she said with a laugh: “you must train like mazoi, to hope to keep up with him!”
her eyes traced the path of the falcon—she cut across the dunes at a swift clip to meet them where their race would end.

mother was here now, and her jetstone prince made a fine show of running from her as well; his challenge pulled from falcon to pharaoh, and he flattened himself in something akin to obeisance against the beiging gold.
 his heart raced!
his legs began to burn; but still khaemwaset ran and ran.

did he think he raced against her? she watched as he pushed his own pace, slowing her own for a short time until he exhausted himself. he left his marks—she followed his trail, appearing distracted as she laughed with her people. she spoke of the royal fledgling, her son—how swift he was!
Toula felt delight, to see his body stretch across the sands and overtake all things in his path. she did not let him leave her sights, only increasing her pace when such might happen for a time.
she waited for him to fatigue, her gemstone gaze holding fast to his figure.
