As the sun set, so did the clouds overhead start to form. Droplets slowly fell from her, a light drizzle - though would remain as so. They were only a light gray showing soon they would disperse, or if they never did, simply remain a drizzle. Sybil looked above as a rain drop fell onto her lavender eyes, and she rubbed he face while blinking it away.

Well, it was official she supposed. It had never been her intention to stay, but weeks had passed and she never left. It was hard to say she was really a part of the pack with how much drifting she did. Maybe it was time to just suck it up and give in. Couldn't be that bad right? Crux was nice enough and her past mistakes couldn't weigh on her here. She could make something of her name again. Maybe she would even like it?

She paced towards the borders of Event Horizon, ignoring the markers as she passed by. This was...home and she knew well enough that she was free to come and go as she pleased. A light rain had just started as she wandered the fallen red leaves, her pelt nothing but a shadow of the limbs that stretched and grasped the skies. She could like it here. A thought she continued to repeat in the hope it might be true.

But some things were too good to be true.

She saw the white of her pelt before her scent finally registered. Splashes of orange that rivaled those of fallen leaves painted a picture all too clear, and an underlying scent, even with the pack's musk and rain that sought to wash it all away, made bile rise in her throat. How was it even possible? She was who knows how far away from the Order and her leg— The fur along her nape rose in spikes, slicked and clumped together by the drizzle wetting her back as golden eyes fell on Sybil's perfectly normal leg.

Kei fought the bitter taste in her mouth, but it wouldn't be enough to wipe the hate off her face. It was her fault. She was the reason she had to leave. Her and that stupid leg. Had she faked it? She certainly looked like she had no trouble walking now, even if the limb had been horribly disfigured before. She could thank the kami for whatever miracle they decided to bestow upon her. It was clear now they had all but abandoned her. Why else would they torture her right when she decided to stay somewhere else.

What are you doing here?

Sometimes, Sybil thought about the order that raised her. She didn't really know who her parents were, and only remember seeing a woman, she dubbed as Mother. Though the phrase was never right, she didn't feel that parental connection, as she was, just the adopted daughter. The familial bond she so craved wasn't there, but the void that was, was filled by the friendships and love by the people of the order.

The bonds that was created, protecting what they always swear to guard with their lives - she as well, despite no internal connection. Sybil knew, she was just a pawn. For the one that should've ruled them all, a daughter so rebellious, yet stuck in a rut ; Kei. The adoptive sister, so dark and beautiful, eyes like the gold of a dragon itself. Supple, elegant like her mother. Yet so feitrcome like a tiger, that even Mother, could not control. Sometimes Sybil envied her, for she was just a piece to use to further the true daughter.

The true daughter.

Even she, wasn't given a proper name of their kind, instead was graced with Sybil.

Though it all came shattering down upon finally being useless. The calico sister didn't hold it against Kei. Rather, she felt more shameful to let down the wolves who graced her with a life, a purpose, and those to call her own. She couldn't really remember either, what was the reason. Though the fear she felt, and the sensation - the lost of sensation, was clear. Her legs once crippled beyond repaired, unable to move.. Unable to feel there.

She was just a corpse, rotting away. Until Sybil finally woke up, and a newfound freedom of being healed.

She could feel her legs twitch, a phantom pain coursing through as she saw the familiar pelt, dripping with the dew of the rain above. The true daughter above all. A woman who would've had it all, but even then.. Sybil wondered if the mother truly banished, or sent her out to be stronger. That woman held mysterious ways, and always firmly grasped what she desired.

Though her claws couldn't reach here - but there was fear, that even this meeting was just a masquerade by that woman, who twirled the dolls together to meet in peace. She couldn't muster the words, what could she say? She could say nothing, a soft gaze toward Kei, though no anger, no sadness, just a void and a tense smile, "Kei."

It felt as if a silence had shaded them, filling the void between them with the echoes of a distant past. Lavender met gold, the pause growing as a faded smile met the calico's lips, but when her voice rang out it brought no answers. Just a name. Her name.

The shadow's scowl grew as the corners of her jowls raised ever so slightly. Beneath them laid eager fangs, the torment of her childhood all but boiling to the rim, but she held back. Even now as scabbed wounds were picked and ripped off merely at the sight of her adopted sister, she knew better than to bleed out here. She knew where the true blame laid and whose part had more to play. She may never admit her knowledge, but in the end, Sybil had been nothing more than the victim of their story.

Perhaps she had been a victim as well.

A snort came from her nose, a cloud of breath forming from the cold as she pulled back her neck and willed the chill along her spine to go. Answer the question.

"I live here." Aggressive as always, Kei was a dragon in her wake. Though so destructive, she couldn't harness the potential Mother had saw in her, and in the end, harmed both of them. Body for Sybil, but soul for her adopted sister. She always had a chip on her shoulder, oddly enough, but perhaps it could be blamed from the distant mother who emphasized how great the other was, and her soon to be heir. Though at the same time, that was how she saw it, in the end, the calico will never truly know how the other saw her parents, and herself.

"In Event Horizon," she was not but a guest or a wanderer in the forest.. But the smell that Kei had that clung to her pelt was a sure-fire evidence, that she too was part of this group. Though as Sybil was more low-key, it wasn't too surprising they hadn't crossed paths yet, and scents so mixed and old ; they wouldn't recognize unless face and name was to be seen.

She held.. An awkward smile that followed by a sigh. Calm and collected, but her nerves said to run. Forgiveness was burned into her soul, but her body could not forget the terrors, and told her she must go, before history would repeat. Though fighting instincts, she sat, her paws crossed, and an easeful look at the sister.

"I live here."

Words she already knew. Knew and denied. Sybil belonged back with the Order and frankly, it pissed her off that she didn't answer the larger question in the air. Sure, Kei hadn't directly asked, but it should have been obvious. Sybil could barely walk when she left and now after moons of traveling was she really supposed to believe that the calico had simply materialized here too? No, that wouldn't account for the fact that her leg was clearly fine now.

What cruel joke was this?

Then...she...smiled? Had she come here just to torment her after all? Faked a debilitating injury somehow, forced her out of the pack then came to laugh in her face when she thought she might settle again. No. Then I suppose it's a good thing I'm only passing through. The words were spat through gritted teeth. She would wait, ensure she was well-rested, but she would not tolerate this. It wasn't her fault. It wasn't. She deserved to be happy too.

If you ask me though you should have stayed with the Order. You seemed perfectly comfy before I left.

Sybil could only shake her head, for a moment feeling flabbergasted how Kei said she was 'comfortable. Even a short amount of anger had risen, a voice just slightly raising, "it can only be so comfortable when you cannot move." Though she was allowed in and stayed in the sanctuary of others ; it was the factor the woman could no move her legs. She was but a cripple, useless in battle and everything else, she would awkwardly have to pull herself but just to survive, and needed help at every turn.

How useless she was. However, Sybil did regret when she said that, felt it was moment of slipping up and shown upon her hurt face. Even though a part of her knew it as all but her sisters fault, in reality she felt it was but the pressure of the society they were within. The need to be perfected, the ideals of forming to the next leader - that enough could break someone, and as it did, she happened to be the victim. Rationalized, but the fear would not be removed.

"You do not need to leave, I.. I'll go eventually."

Even now her sister refused to show her fangs and it drove the dragon mad. Had she thought she was so much better that she was not even worthy of her anger? This fake face she held, surely she felt something towards her. If not for their raisings then for what Kei had done to her. Yet there she stood, all too calm hinting at a smile. Though finally, she would get the koi to raise her voice, even if it was slight.

Her words were an accusation she knew all too well. Though she would not flinch, the backwards turn of her ears spoke enough. It had never been her intention...but when did intention ever matter? Her voice said enough though. That slight break in her mask...it proved she was right. They could pretend nothing ever happened, but it would not change their feelings so why hide them? At least that's how Kei saw it.

Then go. Every moment she had to stare at her face stirred something inside her. What it was she could not quite place, but she knew it was unpleasant. They shouldn't see each other... perhaps one day things would change, and maybe Sybil was ready for that change, but Kei wasn't. Not now. Not yet.

She wasn't sure how ready she was. A part of her still feared Kei, and the anger a jade dragon could harness ; she felt her leg shiver, a cold ache dripping down to it at the thought of memory of her own misfortune. Run, so her body said, flee from the black death that plagued dreams. Mind may forgive, but body will not forget the harm the other could cause. Sybil looked away from Kei, and was rather quick to start moving away.

Though at some point, she remained around Event Horizon for a few months before officially setting off.

For another moment her sister would stand and stare in silence, the gap between them only growing as their voices were drowned by the past. She expected something, anything from the calico, but nothing would ever come. Eventually, Sybil turned tail and walked off. Though she would remain in the fall-ridden forest for a while longer, they never would cross paths again and soon enough the koi had done just as she asked and left.
