for many moons, the only thing that brought the woman peace was hoping the two were living under the same crescent shaped rock. it didnt always work, but on the difficult nights - it did. in truth, the strawberry blonde couldnt really remember when she last saw the melancholy man. it had been so long that, even he began to fade from her memory. the only thing she had left of him was his deep watercolor blue and the sprig of flowers he had given her that day.
she had known she was playing with fire when they first met, so she couldnt blame him when she got burned. even so - that didnt dull the ache that settled within her heart. it hung by a single thread, the weight applied to the muscle a dreary pull downwards. it hurt. and yet, she couldnt figure out why. the man with the water color eyes did not owe her anything. least of all an explanation as for why he left. so why did her ribs feel so shallow?
as the seasons began to change, the lovesick girl cast one final fleeting glance to the wilds below, her doe-eyes swaying along the tree tops, looked for those familiar poetic eyes, one last time.
he wouldnt leave me.
