Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Just as it had been commanded by @Rashepses, a grand meal had been prepared.

The soldier looked upon it, astounded. It was more than he'd ever been offered, especially by a people unknown to him.

Upon one of the soft furs lain out for seating, he waited with baited breath, a nervous tick in his jaw. Would @Sobekhet be excited to see him? Or would his travels have been all for nought?

Just a follow-up to our previous thread, as I figured a seperate one would be better. If Rashepses would like to join for any duration, it is welcome. But if not, it can be left private for Tahro and Sobek.

As summoned, the fellahin approached the shores. But what he found was not the semer-wati. Only a familiar face.

Tahrosek? Could it really have been?

Warily approaching, his chin lowered, eyes skeptical and filled with disbelief.

“What— how...” He stuttered, unable to find the words.

The soldier spun so quickly when he heard the voice.

His voice.

“I know... I'm probably not who you were expecting,” he admitted, sheepish.

Standing, he stepped a pace closer. “After I heard you'd left, I knew I had to follow you. I had no idea where you'd go, or what you'd do. Your mother, she...” She asked me to make sure you were alright. But he couldn't say the words, knowing the truth would scar Sobek's heart.

It was true!

But how had he found him? Why? What would happen to them now?

The mention of his mother ceased all queries, setting them aside.

“My mother! Is she—” Dead? But he couldn't say it.

He hung his head. The question was bound to come, he knew. But now he had to answer.

“She's gone, Sobek. Like the rest. I'm... I'm so sorry..” His voice nearly broke, heart wrenching as though the pain of the loss were his own.

She's gone.

Those two, measly words; they were is undoing.

Wobbling at the knees, his legs failed him, body crumbling into the earth.

He wailed, the mournful sound echoing across the oasis. His mother, his light, his heart. She was gone. And it was his fault.

All his fault!

He became a sobbing mess, then. Unable to stop. Inching the last distance, he buried himself into the chest of the only man left he could call family.

His friend (lover) wailed. The sound hurt. Not his ears, but his heart.

Sobek crawled to him, then sought comfort as he sobbed into his neck.

But he didn't push him away. There, he let him stay. The meal that had been provided would be forgotten, left to rot aside the shore and be swept away. For the soldier was content to let Sobek remain until he was himself and then they would return together.

It was confirmed, then. He would not go. He couldn't. He was needed here. So here he would stay.
