Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It was his dying wish to see things improve, to heal the land from the pain it had endured. Yet as the monster's blade pierced his chest- a deep sadness ran through him. All the things he had seen- all the suffering he had gone through, all for not. He was to die just as any other common man did to these beasts.

Whitlock hung his head, stepped back, and collapsed onto the ground. No longer any sort of threat, the monster continued it's hunt for more living things to vanquish. Why did he, who did so much good and helped as much as he could, was to suffer and die while that thing got to continue and persist. He cursed a god he was doubting even existed under his breath as it left him.

A bloody, broken knight, to be covered by the same ivy as any other body. Without cause or reason- it was over. The man closed his eyes and let death consume his last thoughts.

When the sounds of birds greeted him- peaceful and gentle, he was confused. It had been night when he died, yet the world was full of a sense of warmth. His green eyes opened to witness a forest of beautiful capture- every leaf as though a painting. A bird passed by him overhead, grounding him in the moment.
Heaven looked a lot different than he was expecting.

He tried to rise and reach for the wound that was his demise, only to stumble on canine legs and fail to grasp with beastly paws. The man gasped and tumbled to the earth once more, his body groaning with a desire for rest.

Maybe he would just lie here for a moment, he thought. Maybe this was just an illusion- the last dream of a dying man. He closed his eyes again and stayed on the ground, unaware (or rather, uncaring) of anyone else in the forest with him.
