Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

saying @Taliba & @Mesen-ka are present, backdated a bit <3 aw!

khaemwaset was enraged, and his ire manifested itself with cold silence that did not break until evening fell. "we cannot go back to akashingo," he said at last, climbing to restless feet. "i have not accomplished what i set out to do."
no changing of Ma'at. no riches found. it would be a tormenting shame to turn for the oasis now, and khaemwaset was clearly against it.
neith would understand, and that soured the prince most of all. why should she have to abide what he could not accomplish? the weight of many dynasties dragged at the boy, and he bowed his head for a moment.
but when the jetstone head raised, it was with determination.
 "we will travel south."

Hope I'm not intruding on anything ! Otherwise you can just ignore Ama, that's okay ! Or feel free to message me if you need me to edit something, I'm always open to that ! c:

One big guy and two youngs.

Amapola was pressed to the ground, watching them from afar, hoping they wouldn’t notice her indiscretion. At first, her simple nature made her think of a father on a stroll with his two kids — but there was tension in the air and, strangely enough, the big one didn’t look like he was the one leading the trio.
Now that she looked closer, she had the impression of frustrated beings — but she could be wrong. Still, it was worrying to her: she had thought this savannah where she had appeared completely empty. At least, empty enough to not belong to anyone, to allow her a peaceful stay, but here they were.

They smelled like trouble and trouble was the last thing Amapola wanted for herself. She would have left already if she didn’t feel so stuck; for if she got up now, they were sure to notice. She wasn't used to such open plains and had no idea how to hide her escape if she chose to move. And then, what if they took her for some kind of spy or enemy ? She couldn’t hold her own against three wolves, this she was sure of. So, better to just lie in wait and hope they’d pass without a care for her.

feel free to hop in anytime <3

but the prince's sharp eyes did behold, and he watched, rising from the sands. "who has come?" spiraled his father's imperious voice over the sands. "show yourself. we will talk." reminded stingingly that talking had achieved naught thus far.
he entertained no hopes that this meeting would be of use to him, but he would try all the same to make something of it. "we have food and comforts. no harm is meant."
he felt foolish! he felt grown! he felt as though he did not understand himself and how it was possible to be so frustrated with inability.
but he missed little, and this too must be a boon for him.
the prince did not speak again. they were travelers, and would remain that way until he had returned with something wondrous.
bid now, to roam the sands.

Thank you <3

And show herself she did.
Amapola slowly got up and obediently approached the group. It was still so strange, how the young male seemed to command the trio.
“My name is Amapola,” she offered politely. Amapola, the name of a flower, where she came from. It didn't mean anything, for she had none of the flower’s qualities and didn't even look like it – and maybe that's exactly what it meant : that her parents had no idea what to call her when she was born. An unexpected child, maybe ?

“You seem to be… looking for something ?” she asked, looking from the young one to the other two with a question in her eyes. At least, they seemed like they were out on business and not for a stroll. “I'm just a lone traveler, and even as a traveler I don't know much about this place…” An inkling of uncertainty; an allusion to her very recent arrival in these lands. “But if I can help somehow, I'd be glad to.” She had no reason for offering assistance, except for the fact that she had nothing to do. The loneliness was starting to be too much of a burden for such a gregarious animal; and she was ready to offer a bit of her time in exchange for some company.

amapola. she rose in grace and offered her name, and the observation that khaemwaset had duly wished to avoid. but it was her offer of help which struck him the most. the prince was unsure of how to proceed; admitting he needed such aid seemed to be a reflection of weakness, and yet refusing this was even more foolish.

"you have found the prince of akashingo," he said instead, offering a rogue's grin. "i am exploring, intent on making the beginnings of a trade route for our palace." he motioned.

she was pretty, he decided, in the manner of a boy just discovering what could be had by the eyes. and proudly he looked at her, direct as he had meant his words to be.

"come and join us, lady amapola. we will eat, and i will listen."
