Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Kyo had decided to explore along the mainland while she furthered the depths of the island they awoke on. There wasn't much to note aside from the outlook and cave nestled behind the falls, but they would be useful in the days to come. Kei had spent some time clearing rocks from the sand that lined Shugyoku Dojo. The point was to have a soft cushion, so a rock in your ass wasn't exactly beneficial to anyone's training. No later had she finished did Kyo's call catch her ear just over the falls, though when she turned she hadn't expected to see company.

The woman at his side was jarring, a vague memory dug from the depths of her childhood resurfacing as she recounted one of the young from Wylon. Kei wouldn't have called her a friend exactly, but they had shared more than passing strangers. Upon closer inspection, they didn't look the same at all, but the hues of her pelt were remarkably similar. “Who's this?” Kei glanced Kyo's way with a wary curl of her lip.

They hadn't exactly discussed newcomers yet or how to navigate them given the Order's nature, but frankly, she thought they'd have more time before they started runnin' into random wolves. It was impossible to teach someone an entire culture overnight. The acolytes back home spent months learning just the basics, and even those who made it into the whole never stopped learning.
