with eset beside her, Mafdet strides into the country known as akashingo. no matter to her. no matter to any who might look upon her. she dominated here, and she was well aware of it. feline grace sends black-lined eyes around in a gaze, surveying. when wolves arrive, Mafdet only hisses softly, mockingly.

This is no reality she knows of.

The once-hebsut is padding behind the feline, obedient steps finding monotony. She’s imagining twin cenotes, teal by sunlight, remembering in fragmented imagery how it felt to sink into the cool, crystal chasms below.

Mafdet’s command cuts clear; a fierce wind to buffet the sands. The canid's head jerks up. Water dissolves, becomes radiating heat and a blowing modicum of sand. The feline face is serious, those green of her eyes steady as she regards this stretch of desert. Eset raises her voice in a coyote’s waver.

Waiting, she is prickled with guilt. She is not supposed to be here, and somehow she knows it.

 The King howled for his guard as the sharp feline scent pilfered the air. He should have expected this treasonous performance from a servant who’d abandoned her post but it imbued him with even more antipathy for her kind. How dare the hebsut traipse into his oasis with such a danger at her heels.

 His tail struck high and sharp. Smoldering eyes roved past the coy woman to the creature in ornamented spots

 “What is this?” Rashepses demands of his fellahin.

Consort called, and khusobek groaned in annoyance. he had sought @Nuri as much as she would allow; he was sated in this hard younger body and almost rebellious.

 but he was a captain, and rashepses soon had his guard hurrying to the fore, jerking paw at the others to encircle —

 eset? eset! 

 whatever joy he felt upon seeing the hebsut was dashed by the creature at her side, something misshapen to his eyes, something so entirely foreign he was hard-pressed to believe it was a cat.

 but he kept his stance all the same, guarding back the Consort and pharaoh when she arrived. his eyes hardened in confusion. what was the meaning of this meeting?

her neck forms a proud arch. "this one," to eset, "now she is Mine. now she is sacred to Mafdet."

her tail lashes.

"bow to me, akashingo. worship in My name. I allow you to stay, but your priestess, her blood belongs to Me."

Safiya stayed behind her leader. Watched with interest as a creature she did not know came with Eset in tow. She tilted and ear forward and watched. Her face belaying little interest, but her mind interested none the less. Who was it? What was it? It was good to see eset at least. She stood at attention and waited, quietly. Watching.
