This thread is made with the intention of keeping an active news feed for quick updates regarding gameplay, bugs, events, or anything else that might be relayed through our discord announcements so that members are not missing anything for choosing to not participate in our server (minus site outage updates for obvious reasons).

Any questions regarding updates may be asked in ask the staff or via direct message to a preferred staff member should you not be part of the discord. We will try to update announcement posts with questions and their answers from the discord if they prove to need clarification!

Hey all. With the new site and fresh community, I want to take a moment and thank all of you for being here and sharing in the joy and creativity of writing. This is what we always wanted Canis to be, and what we strive to protect.

For the sake of full transparency, please know that we did ban someone today for harassment, doxxing, and other unacceptable behavior. We approach such behavior with zero tolerance, as long as proof is provided. If anyone ever harasses you, spreads rumors about you, or otherwise makes you feel uncomfortable, please come to us. We will nip it in the bud.

Created a couple threads to make things easy for everyone: 
- A thread for artists to post their commission status/prices/ads
- A thread for players to post their character design sales, whether it's an established design (with art) or a design that they've made.

As a heads up, staff will be making a rule adjustment regarding concerns of pack territory locations and neutral territories between claims. This change will prevent any single group from being boxed in by other packs and allow loners / travelers a neutral path throughout the map. Further info will come soon, but in the meantime, if you are planning a group, please try to keep in mind other forming groups and currently formed packs! If you submit a group for formation in a territory that would be affected by this change, the pack will be marked as pending, and staff will work with you to resolve the situation while keeping the territory you want. Thank you!

After careful consideration, the staff have decided to implement a rule regarding the proximity of claims on the map. Packs are allowed to border one another so long as there is a neutral territory for any neighboring group or loner to travel without conflict. This means if a new claim is submitted that would force a character to cross a claim to continue their travels across the map, the request will be marked pending until the group decides to relocate, the location is moved, or a new territory is submitted to fix the blocked off path. (undiscovered map area does not need to be discovered for this scenario. So long as land mass is there, it is fine.)

We plan to make a visual indicator on the map for locations that are unable to be claimed to make this change easier to understand and notice when creating new group concepts, but it is a backend feature that requires the time of our very busy coder. In the meantime, we will update this thread with off limit and available locations for new claims. Please check it for conflicts before submitting a group for formation.

This should also prevent any group from getting boxed in by others without stifling border conflicts or potential natural tension players might want to write with another group. If issues arise with this rule in practice, we will revise to fit the flow and fun of the game. To address the problems this rule change brings for forming groups, we have added a landmass in the northern sea of the map that is reachable to travel around forming/existing claims. A reminder that this Friday will be the last day to make new Mapenzi threads! As of Saturday the 15th the location will be "vanished" until next year! (We will leave it visible until all threads have been archived but the ability to make new threads will be disabled)

If you have not finished your threads, do not fear. You can finish at your own pace so long as the thread is not left unanswered for three months. At that point staff will archive the thread. Once all threads have been finished the event category will be hidden until it's next use!
