Kei stared back owlishly at the blunt request. It almost seemed like something had crawled up Kyo's ass and died. Maybe it was something more than innocent curiosity to learn about another culture or language.

Maybe he was jealous.

A smile slow spread, creeping sideways as a tooth poked at the edge of her lopsided lips, “Aw, so sudden? Sure, I don't see why not, but I do gotta know. Why now? Aren't ya tired?”

Usually, Kyo's overimposed crowding would irritate the dragon, but this time, it would only crack her grin wider; a sense of success layered her silent gloating before she sat herself to hold steady against Kyo's attempt to loom over her. “It's not as simple as common ya know. If that works for you, then you can say はい — Hai — it's probably the most common phrase. In this case, you'd be sayin' you understand or being affirmative. はい, はい — hai hai is similar, but depending on tone, it could turn dismissive or be a simple greeting. Gonna give ya a hint now, Japanese is a lot more polite typically and built on respect, so watch the tone.” And that was sayin' something coming from her.
