This new land confused Sophie more than the etiquette lessons she had to take when she was a teenager. The terrain felt like it was constantly changing, new locations popping up every other moment. She couldn't understand how that could happen, but perhaps it was the beauty of the place. Sophie was unable to fathom the power the land held to do such a thing, but she quickly learned to respect it.
As the woman traversed the forest, the soft sound of branches snapping behind her made her heart pound. “If there's someone following me, I'm gonna cry.” She mumbled to herself as the cadence of her steps quickened. Despite the growing fear in her stomach, Sophie couldn't help but look around the woods. The forest was beautiful, with small woodland flowers dappling the grass floor. Soph leaned down to sniff a flower, but her eyes never did notice the spider that slowly crawled onto her nose. So focused on enjoying the sickly sweet aroma of the flower, she didn't feel it move closer to her eyes.
But when she rose, a screech left her lips as she violently shook her head to throw the bug off her. “That is so gross!” She cried as she quickly walked back from the flowers. Her feet collided with the roots of a tree, and she abruptly fell onto her rump with a hushed thud. Sophie sniffled as she looked down at her feet, feeling more pathetic now than she ever had in the past.
