All of this walking through land that looked exactly the same was starting to get boring. He had hardly even seen any other living creatures since he'd gotten there - no friends or family, which was concerning, to say the least. It made Kenta's skin crawl, half-expecting someone to pop out with a cry of Otter! at any moment.
But it hadn't happened yet.
Thinking about Kei had been a strange thing as well. It wasn't as though his cousin was never on his mind, but he hadn't actively thought about her this much in over a year. It was strange. This whole thing was strange. His only conclusion was that he must've stepped through a portal somewhere without knowing.
Stopping by a small, trickling stream, Kentaro leaned down to lap up some of the cool water. The little wolf was oblivious to his surroundings, but that was hardly a new thing for the young man, who tended to go through life uncaring of who approached him.
