Sirius "lives" in Canis following his canon timeline in Cruel Intentions. Canis Major is Sirius' afterlife. His character is portrayed the same in Cruel Intentions as in Canis, the only difference being his recollection of his "LIFE". He is missing important memories, but understands Canis is a sort of opportunity at a Do-Over.
