Nereus grew up in a pack that focused on becoming the strongest empire around. He was just one of many soldiers but still got the love and care from his family as he grew up. They loved him very much, and in turn, he grew up a happy pup. His father was the leader of all the troops, and Nereus often found himself at his father's meetings at his side. Learning what it meant to lead these wolves, training to one day take his place. The empire was growing greatly, making other packs around them quite jealous. Despite the focus on fighting, they weren't an aggressive pack. But when challenged, they were ruthless.
In one such instance, a rival pack decided they would try and take on the large empire. Growing a large army of their own filled with many other packs, it was possible for them to truly have a chance to win. Nereus went into the war with the rest of his army, standing at his father's side ready to defend his home. But the other wolves were much more ruthless and angered, giving them an edge. They nearly destroyed the army, going past them straight to the heart of the territory. They devastated every wolf they found, no matter the age. This is when Nereus earned all of his scars, nearly killed alongside his pack mates. After learning about the death of his family and most of his pack, he fled.
Things were looking grim, and he was forced to be alone. Learning how to heal his own wounds so he wouldn't die, forced to hunt despite how injured he was. After years of this, he one day awoke in a strange land, far beyond the strife he had endured.
