Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Isilmë and her siblings were playing while @Reiko watched. While the others wrestled, she grabbed an elk skull and whacked it with her paws. “Bah, bah, bah, buh,” she babbled in tandem as she drummed. She was enjoying the way that it sounded.

She was good at entertaining herself, and today was no exception. She was so engrossed with the task that she hardly noticed anything happening around her.

Raising children was always a blessing, even when they were loud most days. Messy, and hard to wrangle - but Reiko dealt with all of it with a smile on her face. Even with Isilme would bang on an elk's crown, that echoed loudly in the dens, she was only thankful that the others were long gone now to attend to their duties while she remained behind to watch the children.

“Seems like you too will become a musician.” The girl's mother would say, loudly enough to be heard over the drumming, but not loud enough to be yelling. Honestly the skull should have been taken away from the children, such a horrendous thing for them to see by their bedside, but the mother thought it to be cruel to take away what Isilme had already deemed to be a worthy toy.

So instead she opted to watch the child carefully. Keeping tabs on her siblings through peripherals and sound for now. Placing a nail on the skull and tapping it to create a different sound that echoed in the den to see if that would elicit a different reaction.
