Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It is a passing of forms from one life to another. A concert in which only the orchestra changes. But the music remains. Perhaps similarly to the sun-favored flesh that lay at the edge of the unknown. Bland and muted shades of moss green, dreary blues, and lifeless brown raked their claws along the shorn of an unknown hell. The land around her had seemingly been siphoned of its life, leaving a hollow land devoid of most life. As if remembering the blight that dotted their shabby shores, a bristling wind screamed across the outsider’s pelt. Its furious cries dragging its sharpened talons along the woman’s spine. In reaction, vibrant glacial eyes snapped open.

Mountain peaks, small and damp shrubbery, and glaciers the size of capsized lands were all that came into the dame’s view. Each ticking second that floated by was captured in eerie and uncomfortable silence as panic ebbed into confusion. Nothing about the situation made sense, and the golden haired girl just couldn’t wrap her mind around it.

The world around her was swimming in clouded judgement and a faded past that was just out of reach. It seemed, off of first glance, that she must be standing at the edge of the world, seeing what gifts the sea had left for her to find… and the gift came in the lumbering form of another.

Before she herself could grasp what was going on, a different silhouette had peaked into her view. The mass was a complete contrast to her own. Forged and melted from obsidian and brass, the man was like a plague. His sudden appearance not welcomed by the newly distraught woman.

Refusing to back down from either a fight or confrontation, torvi slowly began to rise. Her movements were slow and methodical but were executed with a doe-like grace. Her imperial blue eyes stared the brute down, an unwavering determination stationed within her pools. She would not be moved, bullied, or pushed around. Not until she could figure out what happened to herself – and her body.
