Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Resetting Valette :) She doesn't remember what happened previously in Canis

A stone falling towards her. It's shadow growing bigger as she came smaller. A strange feeling coming over her as everything turned black. She remembered her life, she saw the wolves she loved and lost. There were visions and flashes of her life before the female jolted awake. She jumped up, gasping for air. She screeched as she saw a stone from the corner of her eye and thought it was going to fall on her. The charcoal female had rushed to the middle of the stone circle, her legs spread as she was panting. She looked around but the stones seemed to be immobile. The ground was still. Wind was gently picking at her fur. Valette looked with a dazed look around her. Stone circle. But--- This wasn't her Stone Circle.

Was she dead? Did the mother stone kill her? She didn't feel like she had died, her heart was beating out of her chest. She licked her lips. They were dry. She was thirsty. The woman dared to straighten herself. She blinked and looked around her. "Hello~~?," she asked. She looked around but was met with silence. Valette dared to step forward, looking at the stones suspiciously. They still didn't seem to have moved. She was certain---. The woman moved forward. Everything felt different. From the wind's direction to the grass under her paws, even the color of it. She stepped further forward, still trembling a little for the mere shock of it all. She looked out over the fields. She recognized nothing. A sob came from her throat. "Merrit?! Kallik?!," she called out. She only heard her own voice echo faintly. All alone.

She swallowed thickly. What had happened?! Was she transferred to another world? Was that even possible? Maybe she did die and she was being punished. Her mind was reeling. The dryness was clawing at her throat. Dead or alive. She would need to survive. The female pushed herself forward in search for water, and food. Her stomach grumbled. Whatever had happened to her, first-- she would need to survive. Then she could find out what happened to her, why she had woken up here. She felt her heart still hammering in her chest. The matriarch alone was an unusual event, something she might need to get used to....
