What a beautiful kind of day

It was a nice morning, like no other. Ursula knew she was going to sleep through the day so she might as well start foraging now. She knew that much larger, more dangerous animals roamed this field but she wasn't too concerned about that, she just hoped she would get enough food to satisfy her.

Being omnivorous had it's perks, she ate basically everything in her path, delicious berries, yummy acorns, little bits of grass, the eggs of some ground nesting bird. She inhaled it all. Soon she came across something that she thought was the best of them all. It stuck out the Earth like a mini castle, it had little workers walking along the length of it...an ant nest! 

She dug at it and tore it apart like a monster, closed her nostrils to avoid bites inside her nose (she get's a lot of those) and slurped. it was so loud you could hear it from miles away. She shook her shaggy coat, some little buggers tried biting her skin underneath the fur. once she got them out, she began to slurp them up too. Delight lit up in her face. What a wonderful kind of day.

Javert was...bored, perhaps. Or maybe it was more just the way he lived his life. It was easy to bounce around, roam between places. He promised to always go back to Mama — and she truthfully never seemed very far anyway.

Especially now that he had a fair bit of mass and height on his size, despite being obviously youthful still.

Maybe that was why he felt confident as he watched the odd creature. It seemed like a smaller, sadder version of the mighty hunter he had once encountered. This one had dark fur and seemed to rummage at the earth.

Javert, with hardly any brain cells, called out —

“What're you doing?!” Boyish youth and curiosity shined in his voice.

Ursula nearly tripped over her own food with shock, another animal snuck up on her?! She turned around quickly and stood on her hind legs with a nervous look on her face, hopefully she looked bigger, she stood about 5 feet on her hind legs.


She licked the last bit of ant from her muzzle, and then stared at the puppy...it was huge to her, about her height more or less while on all fours. Now she assessed the area before staring directly at the alabai puppy. "What are you doing?/" She really hoped there wasn't a pack nearby, she tried to sniff for markings before foraging, she even avoided making her own just in case....

"I am securing a meal right now, you don't plan on taking it right?" Being a bear, some may assume she has a deep voice or a scary one, but she really just sounded young, with a nasally voice and drooping, terrified eyes, it was clear she'd seen some pretty scary stuff, or maybe she was just startled, either way she looked down at the dog before getting back on all fours.

He watched with interest more than anything else.

Childish naivety, perhaps, but Javert had never had to be scared of anything. Mama kept him safe always — and even when he strayed away from Mama, he hardly worried about much either. The world seemed so vast but empty here.

Perhaps the boy merely made friends in whoever he could, danger or no.

“Why would I take it?” Genuine confusion as he doggishly tilted his head. “You got it! It's yours to eat!” Even if his nose sniffed at the air with curiosity. He could not smell any of the usual tells of a meal, but he had never thought about eating bugs.

She stared at him skeptically for a moment, she she went back to munching before looking at him again. "Never grow old." She shook her fur out and sighed.

"So, if you don't want my food, what exactly brings you to this place?"

She sat down, relaxing yet tensing to look everywhere else, in case she got jumped, she may not be nervous of Jav that much,  but she still had to be cautious. Every once in a while she would take a moment to lick her lips, then she'd pay attention again.
