fear was a storm she'd experienced all her life. it was a storm she'd weathered and stood strong against, perhaps for too long. it was her ability to stand strong that had killed her in the end, against the man that had tortured her mother, then killed her in front of his brood's own eyes. it was she that had launched forward to try and save their mother and her siblings, and it was only she that had suffered the consequences for it.

the pain she had suffered had lasted even through her death, razing her nerves even when there were none to burn. lightning sparked over and over across her skin, leaving wounds that would forever scar. some were deep and some were shallow, some would fade in time and some would speak her trauma for any and all her lives.

and so it would be, as she was delivered into the next in an blinding flash of energetic fury, a force to be reckoned with always and forever.

in that moment, Savan was born again, there upon the highest peak that her brother did claim.

Faust had been exploring. He would get to know the Vale that he wished to claim as his. The mountain peaks were the most trivial of all— dangerous slopes, terrifying heights, and bladed terrain that could slice open the foot of a softpaw.

But his feet were not soft. Nor was his disposition. Time had gifted him a new body, a new life. The same colors, same everything, but a second chance at what life had ripped from him in the beginning. Mother. His precious mother— and his own sister had died protecting her whilst he lay trapped, tending to their father. His own eyes bled that day. His heart flooding with tears. The salt only lingered in his wounds— tainted, stinging.

His thoughts snapped themselves away as a piece of rubble detached itself from the mountainside, paw almost slipping with it. It was almost as if The Deep called his name. A warning. A folly for what had happened before he appeared in a distant land beneath the trees of crimson ichor.

The picture of the crimson forest melted away at the scent of something damp, earthy. Lavender.

His heart palpitated.

The furyborn's feet soared.

Rock crumbled from behind him. His feet burned. Minor cuts stung on the pads of his feet— but that didn't matter. Not now. Not when she was so close.

A whimper. A tone of voice that could only be held for her.

"Savan..."

Sister.

She was fury reborn upon the raging mountain top, wind whipping fiercely through her fur. Breath exploded into her lungs with that first draw, eyes flashing open with her core form shining brightly.

As if she were rebuilt layer by layer, the Furie calmed as she stood there, lightly singed fur smoking. She reformed, her conscious slipping from the server into her now beating chest.

It was now that she blinked, beginning to look around and stop firmly when she saw him.

“Faust…”

Had she survived the night?

She was just as beautiful as he remembered her to be.

Long limbs, coat similar to their mother. Contrasting light and dark— she was Avitas reborn, a symbol of balance. His life had never felt so disarranged the day that she and Mother died. It had all been a blur, a long, long dream until he woke up here. It felt like a lifetime had already flown by and he simply lived it all without her. Without her. Nothing he did mattered.

Not up until now.

She was different. Scars littered her delicate face— scratches. Marks of her struggle. Some gashes ran around her throat— marks of death. Marks that haunted Faust and even now while he looked at her, he felt his heart sink.

He didn't know if his mind was playing tricks on him. It didn't matter.

In that moment, he feet soared towards her. His head bent down to meet her own, foreheads jutting against one another. He sucked a breath in as he felt the warmth of her skin against his own. He could feel the way her heart beat against her chest— his own colliding with hers.

"I see you."

— he would utter, voice breaking with light tears soiling his eyes. "I see you."

Don't disappear again.

Don't leave me again.

Words that he wanted to say, but he knew that she would understand. By the force in his chest, by the touch of his forehead. Faust would not take this moment for granted. Not for once second— even if she would flutter away like a distant memory.

He was so suddenly close to her, their foreheads touching, her breath inhaling his scent. If she could have clutched him closer, she would have; she would have melded with him, two stars colliding in the vast expanse of their universe to form a single, burning nova.

Her eyes closed as she stood there with him, at peace for the first time since she'd first discovered their father's abuse. My heart howls to see you...” She whispered, voice hoarse; whether from the trauma worn across her throat or the length of time it had gone unused was unknown. In the end, it mattered not. All that mattered was that they were here together, now.

They broke away in unison, her step back mirroring his own as bright eyes peered around them. “Is this Empirium?” Had he died at that bastard's teeth, too?

A broken, tittering sob left his chest. Only a singular one. Howls to see you. The words meant more to him than they ever had. It had always been something that Faust never understood. It sounded stupid back home, but now as he held his sister against him, it felt only right. "You're alright now," he'd breathe against her, enjoying the moment that they're sharing.

When they broke away, Faust took in a sharp breath. The loose tears that dripped from his cheeks were now quickly gone, just as the shuddering of his chest had. Her eyes briefly wandered to the skies, then to him. Faust shook his head.
"No...no. This is real."

Faust would take past her, climbing up a bit higher against the mountainside. His head would dip, encouraging her to follow him. If she had chosen to do so, he'd stand on an overlook that peered over the cliffside of the Roost.
"It's all real."

He breathed, the midnight storm still raining down on them. From up here, though, there was a break in the clouds, and there was nothing but them and the stars.
"A new home."

Real. It was all real. The how and the why were dust in the wind for all the Furie cared. Dutifully, she turned, setting forth to follow her older brother, her heart thrumming strongly within her chest. Rough paws carried her up the jut of stone that seemingly pierced the sky and brought them closer to the stars they so cherished, closer to the storm that raged on, even above the mountains somehow.

Below them, the vale stretched, hard to see in the darkness but there all same. Home. She looked to him as those clouds parted and the stars shone through. “A home in the stars.” Her words were as strong as the thunder was loud, a confirmation that she would support his claim. It was only fitting that he would claim this place for them. And who all was 'them'? Savan would learn this in time, not finding now to be a suitable time to ask.

“How long have you been here? How long have I... been dead?”

Faust could only hum in agreement at her words when she joined his side. He'd glance at her once more, finding it difficult for his eyes to leave her. Leave the scars that littered her face and neck. The horror she went through. Faust could think of nothing else expect that he would do it differently this time. He would be different. Stronger.

Be the older brother that she deserved.

"I haven't been here long. A week, maybe." He'd say, almost stuttering on his words. How long have I been dead? There was a multitude of ways that he could've answered that. A lifetime, seemed like an appropriate fit considering he fell out of the sky in an entirely new world.

"I am...uncertain. It's all, really, a blur." His words turned solemn. His eyes cast down at his feet, unable to look at her. "Nothing was the same."

A week. Such a meager amount of time. She heard the sadness in his voice and knew only fury. Fury at the man that had put such emotion there, that had wounded him so deeply.

Her face turned to the wind and the light rain, letting both wash over her as she closed her eyes and tilted her head back. Here, beside her brother, beside her North Star. She had always been close to him, always looked to him for her inspiration and motivation. On the chart of stars, he was her guiding light, and she his.

A breath outward, visibly pluming from her nostrils in the cold mountain air, eyes opening as she looked at him once more.

“And it will not be the same here, either.” Finally, the stony countenance slipped to reveal a small smile, though the muscles in her face felt tight at such motion. “Here, with the stars lighting our way, we will make it better. Together.”

Her confidence in him only elated him even more. With her by his side, Faust would finally be complete once more. It would be like what his life was once before— fulfilling. Precious. Before it had all been ripped away.

But it would be different now. She was right.

"The stars guided us here." Faust would say, looking up at the glittering beings that danced amongst the skies. "And I will do everything in my power to keep us here."

He said it with certainty. He looked at her sincerely.
"I cannot lose you again."

The stars. The Star Mother. They had blessed them in so many ways, not only bringing them together again but placing them here, in this place that held so much potential. Truly, it was perfect for them, with the lake in the center of it all, and the peak that reached to the stars. Her heart sang with the thought of it all. Here, beside her brother, in this Vale, Savan would be truly happy; this she knew.

“You won't,” The star-blessed female reassured him. “I will cut down anyone that tries to separate us ever again, and send them straight to The Deep.” There was a cold fire in those icy eyes as she looked to him with a small smirk. Anyone, and she meant anyone, would feel her true wrath if they even so much as thought about it.

“What will you call us?” Savan would ask now, tail flicking once behind her, raindrops flinging from her fur to spatter on the ground.

Savan's comment made him chuckle. It wasn't that he didn't believe her, it was the fact that he did. His sister was no short of a ruthless sort, but he needed that. He needed her balance in his life. Without it, he had been lost.

His wrathful sister. It sounded good when he said it in his head.

"Velaris." he'd say, a trickle of remembrance from home. "A home to the stars. For all dreamers alike."

There weren't many things that he took from their past, but the name 'Velaris' had been one of them. Velaris had been the name of a celestial festival held once a year where the stars, or meteors, had fallen from the sky and burnt up into the atmosphere. It was one of Faust's favored memories of being home.

"Come. I'm sure the others will be surprised—" he'd say with a smug look on his face, but traces of disbelief still lingered. "I'll find you something to eat as well."
