Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

i wanted just a mama/javert thread with all the muse i have :x lmk if not okay!! im also kinda playing loose and fast with this timeline lol @Jesuite

These lands were cold, but nice. He had never experienced snow before and the endless amount of it brought the boy a special kind of joy. He also found remnants of a home lost to time. Which meant he most certainly rummaged through whatever trinkets or dens had been left behind.

So when he wedged free a bone from an old cache, he took off in search of his mother.

The femur of a smaller deer!

Not that he knew that, but he was still proud of the find all the same and very much wanted to show it off!

The boy brought her joy that she knew she hadn't felt in a long time, but at the same time, there was some distant sadness that plagued her when she was alone. She remembered, faintly, the joys of raising children, of doing it alongside someone she had loved. Javert gave her some of that back, and the gratefulness that Jesuite felt for his presence in her life was unmatched.

Their travels had brought the pair to the mountains of Northfall, quite near the very place she'd awoken among the fairy circle of flowers. A faint memory now, something she didn't even think of as she traversed the foot of the mountain, sniffing out old caches herself. Javert had tasked himself with doing the same, and the silverslip woman could not help but smile when she spotted her large son sprinting back to her side.

“What did you find, sweet boy?”

His rear at once shook side to side with each step he took.

He was just so excited to see her! It hardly helped that he had but only a nub of a tail. Any excessive wagging always led to wiggling. A sight his mother was surely familiar with by now.

“Ifabone!” Words mumbled in a garbled manner around the bone in his mouth. “Wook!” He barked around it before he finally had the idea to set it down. Content to place it at the feet of his mother while he dramatically flopped onto his rear.

“There's, like, SO much stuff here!”

She could not help but give a delighted laugh as the boy wiggled his way over to her, her own tail waving in combination to her happiness at his excited presence. Even now, every time he did it, Jesuite's heart could not help but swell with love and joy and she showed this by stepping close and swiping a quick lick of her tongue across his forehead.

“A bone, you say! And here I thought it was a bunny.” Her smile was playful, wide with teeth as the mother jested with him. “Do you want to show me it all, or was just the bone enough, hm?” Lavender eyes lit with her query, waiting to see if young Javert would take her up on her offer to lead her around and show her all that he had discovered. It was a way for her to foster his independence, guiding him by paw instead of shoving him out of the proverbial nest.

“Mama!” He barked with delight. “You know what a bunny is!” He could only joke in warmth with her, glad that she was pleased with what he had actually found.

Often times Javert left his trinkets sprinkled about wherever they went. However he wondered if this time he'd take it with him... A symbol of sorts. To prove his prowess as a growing hunter.

“We gotta get you something!” He beamed as his rear continued its wiggling actions. However he bumped his forehead into his mother's neck before he rounded off. Eager to show her the old dens he had discovered! “C'mon, there was lots left behind.”

He wanted to show her the old dried herbs, the other bones of emptied caches and the various worn trails beneath fresh snow! All he needed was to pick up his bone and off he went! Snow kicked up beneath fat puppy paws.

“No!” She responded, continuing on with her jest, even if he already knew she wasn't being serious. “I've never seen one in my whole entire life!!” In fact, Jesuite enjoyed chasing the smaller prey animals, finding the challenge thrilling and exciting. She did know, however, that Javert likely wouldn't have such an easy time with smaller, more agile prey. She would help him learn, in time.

“Okay! Okay!” Laughing, she would give her son a quick nuzzle, a fleeting display of affection as he shoved his face into her neck. And off they went, the silver mother following the growing boy with short and quick steps, better to keep up with his already long legs that way. “Tell me what kind of things were where you found the bone?” She asked, pushing his young mind to recall. She wanted the boy to be able to use his mind as well as his body as he grew, and what better way to start such practices now?
