Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Another just trackin' herds, not necessarily a hunt thread.

Again she tracked a herd, but it was one that didn't commonly go to the mountain, it was just one she had scented a few times when on her adventures. This one seemed to keep fairly close to the shores, so she considered it a fairly unlikely one to hunt -- it was just good to know it was there. If they needed to go this far from their territory, then things would be kind of desperate, wouldn't they? Arbiter thought it was best to be prepared, but also had a second thought: was there a way to convince the herd to move to the mountain in the spring when resources were plentiful? She sure wouldn't mind more deer available within their marked borders...

Actually, what she considered a herd was probably several very small ones that just kind of moved together in this slightly flatter piece of land. Perhaps even just a few does with their offspring from the past year that by now were basically identical to their mother from Arbiter's eyes. So far she hadn't scented any easy pickings either, which was fine for the moment, so she just wanted to scout them out and see. And so, she headed to one of the higher points in the general area -- she'd be able to get a good view from there of both any deer that were outside of cover and the cove and ocean beyond.
