Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write, though the game also rewards high activity
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • Writing is collaborative, and so is our supportive community
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Messing with prompts. Got this one: "A blizzard starts to approach, as you try and find shelter you notice a light within the distance. You aren't sure what it is, and neither can particularly smell what it may be. For all you know, it could be a figment of imagination."

The wind is blowing, there's dark clouds quickly approaching, Scabiosa decides she can't wait for winter to end. The snow on her paw-pads is somehow worse than the sand she used to hang out by before, and she finds herself longing for the long summer nights. The ones after her and Snapdragon left to explore. Free to do whatever she wanted, it was great. She does not regret joining Duskguard, having a familiar face around is very nice within the strangeness of these lands.

Scabiosa's getting used to that, too. New wolves popping up everywhere for no reason, strange feats of nature where those things should not be. She pushes thoughts of the strange happenings aside, the blizzard is quickly approaching Duskguard's lands, and she needs to find somewhere safe soon. Only... There's something odd in the distance. A little shining light. Her eyes go back and forth from it and the upcoming snow. Damn.
