Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Celnes is taking all the children to Exalted Grotto, which is the communal den.

Winter only graced them with one snow-fall and resulted in a hunt, but since then the snow has been relatively bare.. Except the factor that the cold was ever-so lingering. She muled with thoughts and after some time decided it was best to bring the youngest to the overall community den, for the warmth of all bodies who slumbered within would help then the few inside the dens.

She took @Faust, @Selwyn, @Weirs and even @Declan, though if surely @Antornuat wanted, to return with him so. She actually did not know where the owl-woman slumbered, whether it was the grotto itself, or somewhere else, "this will all be your first winter. It can be beautiful, but it's also dangerous. Warmth is overall important, so when you feel yourself growing cold, find an adult and return to the grotto. This is where most tend to sleep."

They lived in the den together, but was often empty with the absence of their mother and only the three. Once was four and no more, when their mother called and said it was time to change, Faust was originally skeptical. However the air changed, she could feel the coolness of the winter and only smiled and followed ahead, occasionally bumping into Weirs as they went. Bringing them to what looked to be an incline downwards, the view of moss and so was up ahead. She had not explored the populated area, where the view other members of Elkshire were spotted inside of it..

She bounded a bit ahead, touching the moss that grounded the floor. It was soft, and mildly humid in feeling.

Young Weirs followed their queen mother, keeping stride with Faust when it fit just right. Winter had already brought about curious sorts of changes, and it seemed another was in store for them today. As his nose worked over several scents that all mingled together to make Elkshire, he peered ahead to the sheltered space she led them towards: it was the communal den.

Used to the familiar company of his littermates most of all, plus the few others who came to them, this was... a whole lot more. Exciting, but a little worrying of course considering he did not know how all of the others would receive him and his siblings fully. He stayed quiet and nodded, still taking this in with a silent determination not to be overwhelmed at the prospect. As one of his mother's youngest Déorwine, he shouldn't balk over something so trivial now.

There were the warnings of winter to come, too, and that kept him grounded in his interests to not end up buried in the dirt himself. Return to the grotto, stay warm. It didn't sound that difficult. He should be able to handle that, first winter or not.

OOC: I am so sorry about this very late reply. Completely forgot that I needed to reply to this!

The pup had sort of trailed behind with everything. He wasn't paying very much attention to all that was happening and the varying little sights on the way to grotto only made that worse. He wasn't allowed to explore very much, so to him this was like some whole adventure to him that he needed to unpack. By unpacking that meant sticking his face into things he shouldn't stick his face in.

When he finally had slipped himself into the denning area he caught the butt end of what Célnes had said. Something about finding people to cuddle? He could do that. He can totally bother people about cuddles. That's just about his favorite thing to do! What about Antornuat? He hasn't seen her in a while, but he's just assumed she's busy. Everyone gets busy sometimes, but he'd still rather spend time with her. Who can blame him? She's a fun weird lady!

Despite his internal rambles Declan stayed oddly quiet. The other pups that had been brought with them all seemed to be some sort of royalty of sorts. That's how he explained it in his head. These kids all looked like the big boss lady, so princes and stuff! He couldn't fool himself with that, so you know what he did? He went and just sort of sat in a corner, digging his face into a pile of random dust and scraps that had accumulated.
