Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

It'd taken him several weeks, but at last Villentretenmerth concluded that his time among the Dragonford wolves had come to an end.

He moved to depart their shores undercover of night, not because he was a coward but because he found comfort in the quiet darkness. His choice not to make his decision known to those who sought to the raven who boldly attempted to hold the pack together was nothing personal - he simply wished to press on with his life, and settle himself somewhere with greater security. He had committed himself to Vendrussel, to her plight, and now that it was over and she was lost, it was time to seek whatever soul might next require his guidance.

The freezing rain came relentlessly, soaking the gilded dragon, yet he carried on as though the weather were mild. The cold and wet bothered him little.

He reached the edge of Dragondford's claim and looked over a broad shoulder, cyan eyes blinking as sleet stung at their edges, and gave one last longing look to the rugged waves as they lapped on the shores. Villentretenmerth would miss the coast, would miss the tang of salt in he air and the taste of silvered fish, but he'd accepted that his duty there had come to an end. He turned away, lifting his chin to glance toward distant mountains where their peaks rose into blackened clouds, and prowled forward to begin his search for a new purpose.
