Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Set near Bluewater Lake.

There might’ve been a reason he found himself in this position today—or there was none at all, he didn’t keep track and nor did he care to. Jawbone was a creature of making statements and the little golden wolf who believed she could outrun him was fine enough to work with simply because he had little less to do and the winter always left him slightly unsavory.

This would explain why, a menace in every way, he pursued her with all the intent of having claw meet flesh.

She ran, and she ran. A day that was normal and so, but maybe the blood moon was attempting to sign to her. To the mountains she went, but her heart knew she should always remain at the Golden Glade ; danger always lurking, always coming after as she ran with tears streaming down her face and tongue lolled out [madsh] her legs were on fire, but she couldn't ease up for the terror that was coming after her.

A scream wanted to emerge, a cry for help, but nothing came out as she felt her paws twist and collide, and fell to the forest floor.

Most might've shown some pity for the girl but Jawbone supposed if she couldn't so much as keep her feet under her, he was doing wolf kind a favor by removing her from the gene pool—the true Bear way, after all; only the strong saw the next season, only the strong left some mark.

He'd be graced to do both.

Jawbone wouldn't give her a moment to recover, not even a heartbeat before he was lashing out a mighty paw at her; long, dark claws snaking flesh and fur.

He'd abandon his attack first to rear up high on his hind legs and let out a massive, rumbling roar that'd mist on the cool evening air; a declaration of what he'd do, and that he knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, he would be the one walking away from this. It was only a matter of how much energy she thought to waste.

Fate was not kind to the girl. To be plagued by @Cypress with the lower south. A man of reds who tormented and threw her into the dirt, even how she escaped seem to be a blurr in the lines ; but since then she had hesitated visiting further down. The land that it happened upon had long since been claimed, so she knew that he was no more. But the tides continued on, where the north was plagued by walrus's who toyed and enjoyed nothing more then wolf suffering. Alas too, the tiger, @Kuhn who roamed so, a beast who brought fear — it was a place that Uriel refused to step foot in anymore. The terrors was soo much for her faint heart, and she was locked away within the Golden Glade..

But even that wasn't safe. The plains were once trapped by @Renegade, an aggressive horse that led Uriel even more frightful to travel. She hadn't seem him, lately.. There was more, to @Satan she thought once as perhaps a friend, someone she did like — until she found his true nature, and his pack of slavery. The near-thought of almost visiting brought a shiver to her spine, for what if she was the one, who would be captured and become a slave? The world wasn't safe.

And so the next act came.. As Uriel screamed and cried, the feeling of her legs and skin being pulled, the begging and pleading to one that may not even understand her — she wanted to vomit, to cry blood and even fall. A fainting spell was on the wind, but the pain of claws and others kept her awake as she screamed under the terror of a bear.

She didn't even fight!

There'd been deer that put up more of a fight and it hadn't the teeth or claws to try; he was to be quality control, it seemed.

Jawbone dropped to all fours, heavy thumps of each paw, and rounded her writhing and wailing body with a bear-ish brow quirked and his dark eyes keen on the fright in hers. "Don't care to live?" he said with a laugh as horrid as his roar, breath stinking of carrion and his shoulders roller as he lowered his head to press his big, wet nose into her face, staring eye to eye. He clicked his tongue, a reprimanding tsk tsk tsk that provided a momentary relief. Breaths audible.

And then he moved, reaching around to grab one of her hind legs in his jaws, crushing down for good measure before he began to shake her like he would a hunk of deer thigh.

She didn't even think to fight — she remembered with the red-devil how she tried to move and break free, but nothing had seemed to work. She remembered with the walrus, how she couldn't do anything but watch. She remembered even with Kuhn, all she did was flee. Uriel was scared, she was more scared to fight back, almost as if she accepted the consequences it'd be faster, and less for hurt. However in this moment she was wrong, hearing her own bones crunch made her vomit on the floor as she cried and screamed, to where the birds fled the area. The bear spoke, mocking as it did.

The world was starting to grow dark, but every inch of that pleasure to fade out was brought back by the pain she felt — she wanted it to end, she wanted to die then continue going through it.

He was unrelenting, tearing this way and that, grinding his teeth and dragging her none unlike a bit of fresh kill.

Like an expert picking along the finest bits of a carcass, Jawbone would—once copper hit his tongue and dribbled from his chin—release her leg, letting it fall all limp and odd, paying no more mind to it when he went to latch his jaws around the other; but his teeth would only sink in, certainly pressing into the bone of these thin bird legs, and instead of thrash and tear as he did prior... he'd calmly stroll toward the entrance of the lake.

Every now and then he'd clench his jaws and shake her some, bored with the lack of fight, but he would soon find himself at the lake's abode and there he'd drop her.

Jawbone didn't doubt that she'd die—only a matter of time.

Bleed out. Starve. He huffed.

At once, he'd return to her head, lifting a paw to rest firm on the wolf's skull, pressing pale fur into the muck of mud. Jawbone took to her with one eye, slowly blinking, watching, thinking...

Uriel's legs were on fire ; she could feel them, every inch of the skin peeling away the fangs and claws that dug into her.. But she couldn't move them. The desire to run and flee, the coward that she always was, the attempt to move them, even twitch at the lightest or curl her toes was within vain ; to feel everything but not even use them was a curse delivered by this bear with each motion she screamed until hollowed out her throat and she was left with a silence and pain. Glossed eyes to being thrown and mauled.. Heart, dug into the earth.

Shallow breathing, silver eyes glancing at the bear, a plead of death. There was saviors, there was others, tears fell as she thought though, none were here to save her ; but she wasn't worth saving.

Everything hurt.

He grunted, breath fogging before his maw.

Jawbone would return for her in a few days time—she'd be good and gone, stinking of death like she did. If his handiwork didn't end her, some opportunist would do the rest for him.

And so it was with an air of neutrality that he grabbed her up by the meat of her thigh, cut his teeth in firm, and swung her forward; he was no cat, he didn't play with his food, but he wouldn't put forth any effort forth to kill it either.

At the uncared for border of a band of wolves, Jawbone would proceed to leave the wolf, bleeding and mangled and all alone.

With her blood still in his fur, he'd turn, languidly, and amble off with thoughts of his more pressing meal.

The world was a blurr, no knowledge of even entering a packs land — but after all, it wasn't her who entered, she was brought by the whims of the beast. Blood soaked and mangled, her legs were broken with cuts elsewhere, but even she couldn't tell the extent of her injuries in such a state, in and out of the realm of consciousness and not, to death's door that she was.

She was left there to die.
