Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

He had been admiring the moon, and it's strange glow from Empyrean's slopes. It wasn't enough then just to see it from the trees, but when he had made it to the bluffs it was far clearer. The scent of the sea was so strong, and he hadn't spent the time here that he had along the rest of the mountains. He took a moment, his green eyes closing as the wind swept over his figure. The softer loam was strange beneath his feet, claws digging in a way that he couldn't on the mountain. When he opened his eyes, he could see the sea in the distance and how it churned.

Despite living fairly close to the ocean, all things considered, it wasn't something he spent that much time near. He didn't much care for sand or the way that it felt beneath his paws. He much rather preferred spending his time on more sturdy surfaces, he'd noticed, and that was probably all in thanks to growing up on the mountain. He could see the moon rising, looking up to watch the way the moon looked as the clouds shifted as if to reveal it. It was still beautiful, regardless of where he saw it.

The moon was still red.

It was unnerving to her still, who felt it was an omen of things to come. Sooner or later, some things would hit the fan. It would spin around, getting everywhere — a mess it'd make! Nikita tried not to let it scare her so, but she couldn't help her trembling legs when she looked up at the sky. Thankfully, there seemed to be some entertainment elsewhere. A welcomed distraction.

"Hello there," She greeted the boy with a smile, keeping her distance. Just in case a protective mother was suspicious of her! "I see Lady Moon has pulled another out to look at Her." Nikki mused enigmatically, coming to a halt and regretfully tilting her head to the sky. For once, she didn't want to look up. For once, she wanted to avoid Lady Moon in the less benevolent way She presented Herself.

She sighs inwardly.

"I'm Nikita" she added, tearing her gaze from the heavens and looking at the boy again "Nikki is fine, I realize it can be a mouthful" She softly chuckles, wagging her curly tail "who might you be?" She'd never seen the boy before, nor smelt his pack... Oh, she was quite sure he belonged to one. It was fresh with mountain scent, pines and arctic air.
