Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

placed between vast, uncharted space of the everfrost and tsukiishi

A grumpiness pressed firm to Nathair's face, jaw clenched and ears slightly pinned downwards to his skull. Right now, there was barely a time seen without the scowl. The lay of the land was still significantly different from what he was accustomed to. Politics vastly changed and not a tavern in sight — where the fuck was he supposed to drown his sorrows now? If he'd listened to the babblings of Carion, he was sure he would have picked up how to make some booze, but he hadn't now, had he? The viper spent most of his time staring at the way his face was chiseled and how he'd have that stupid fucking smirk like he knew everything about the world, and he was dealing with some pubescent teen — which wasn't far off.

Even though he fucking loathed the cold; here he was. Still standing in the thick of it. A hard sigh pressed out of his lips, knitting his eyebrows together once a frigid slice of wind tussled his fur one way. Who the hell would ever want to live in this barren ice-hole?

Days were busy.. When Aries thought of Winterglade she does not remember a time besides arranging her own wedding, to be busy. Much was spent was but a normalized member, hunting and gathering was one willed and spending time studying — war and politics were foreign, one existed but not one she generally dabbled in besides the occasional balls that would be held by the higher-court members. Every so often to join and dance, and she reminisced the time of that. The days where her paws glided and the world seemed to be shimmering ; even fire was nothing and but a gain of celebration.

She wondered.. Whether her mother would be proud of her. Aries was wandering through the tundra, her ears flickering and tail hovering as she mellowed through with a soft, neutral smile upon her pale face. There was a hum to her voice, as she looked forward and thought — to whether her mother was watching from above, and proud of her daughters. The snow-kissed mistress had found her sister, family reunited and she couldn't help but continually wonder and question.. For what reason, did the heavens, did the Gods, settle them to this land? What reason were they dropped, and together at most? Yet far apart at the same time. Aries fell into Duskguard, but Wren elsewhere, and injured as she was, her adventure to the vale was not pleasant.

Fate and destiny was strange that way, but she struggled with the concept of what reason she was here.

So many questions filtered, but a dark man would catch the sight of any in this snowy land, "hello there," Aries greeted with a warmer smile, "you seem troubled." A scowl upon his face.. Did he need help?
