Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

"Your children adore you." Aries tended to the Chief in the absence of the more known healer, as she tended to politics. It was a wonder to how well they were doing in the moment, and if all was fine. She would hope news that would be brought home was more then pleasant and not the worries of war, for the snow-maiden could only imagine the looki the Priestess would give to see Tiberius like so. His face was torn more then usual, quite more skin to be lacked but the snow provided ample help — with in-between breaks so that frost-bite would not occur. But the blood at the very least stopped, it was just a fragile moment now where the wound was only just covered by it's own flesh and blood. He had minimal scars elsewhere that was also attended to.

She coated some poppy seeds in honey that was leftover before the season was to end, and passed them over. There was a few leaves on it as well that needed to be digested, such as cornflower leaves, "to dull some pains." She said sighing, and organizing her other needs.. Though she was smiling as she thought of the children who were very reluctant to accept the matter that they could not see them. A tantrum from one twin, the attempts of the others.. She wasn't sure how long Aries could keep them at bay, especially if it meant not spending the night with at least one parent. However, he didn't wish that. Not in his rather gnarly look.

She needed to clean his wounds again, she thought while looking at her variety of herbs.

Tiberius stared at the den wall, the pattern of the soil as he listlessly lay there in Aries' company. She had opted to help him in the absence of Olive but he had the thought in mind that he would have rejected Olive's desire to help him -- thinking he might have gone so far as to order someone to keep Olive away from him. Aries did her best, though and he didn't mind; thinking she was wasting her time regardless. He didn't deserve her effort. Her words cut through him like ice through flesh and his shoulder twitched as he winced, his face fresh and sore and not at all liking the way his facial muscles tried to frown.

She was trying to make him feel better, this he knew. He hadn't wanted the girls to see him since it had happened and it was a hard task when they were asking after him yet he couldn't do it. He couldn't show them the mess that was their father. "Aries," the titan rumbled, voice scratchy as he glanced at her from the side. "They ain't ready ta see it," he grunted as he glanced down to the honey covered seeds, accompanied by leaves, her words causing him to sigh.

He deserved the pain. He hadn't rid the world of a chaotic beast, no, she was still out there somewhere, lurking and being a danger. He stared down at them, wondering if he would eat them. "I ain't doin' it. I ain't 'avin' them scared o'me," listlessly he stared at the offered medicine. ^^

"Make sure you eat those. They're coated in honey to taste a bit better — next time i'll bring more blueberries." She listened to him as he stared at her and then before the pile she made ; but flickered her tail when he yet to digest. The one duty of a doctor was to make sure that patients didn't skrit past upon the herbs needed. Aries was advised by teachers to always watch and make sure, some believing that they do not need medicine, or others feeling it's too bitter to their liking and to avoid. The pains of attempting, but she knew as well they weren't the most pleasing.. At least she attempted to coat them in light of honey.

"I don't believe they'd be scared of you," she gazed away for a moment, before looking back at him with a chuckle, "maybe Dalmatia would be shocked, but she is not here." She could envision the poor little girl within tears, not for how her father looked, by in fear what had happened to him, or even if the terror was still nearby. She may be a shy little girl but she was not cruel or truly scared, still brave enough to care for her family and siblings. She was just a little harder to get out of her shell.. Aries thought as she turned away to tend to the herbage.

She started to munch on a few to produce a poultice to apply to the wounds as she could clean them along with it.

She told him under the guise of guiding him but he knew that she meant business, that it wasn't a make sure but a do it. Tiberius grimaced and would lean his head to grumpily nibble and chew at the herbs she provided. They weren't particularly nice but then he supposed they didn't need to be so long as they did what they were meant to do -- the saving grace was how she slathered them in honey. "They're alrigh'," the titan grumbled as he ran his tongue along his teeth. He didn't dare run his tongue along the healing skin of his lip, supposing that he wouldn't find much of anything there at all.

Dalmatia.

The delicate girl, the sensitive girl. Tiberius thought that Aries might be wrong there; that Dalmatia would be scared.

"Meant ta bring 'em comfort, ain't I? Bein' their Pa," Tiberius murmured, "ain't meant ta scare tha shit outta them." Because he was adamant that's what would happen if he exposed them to his gnarly face. "Ain't gonna bring 'em fuck all," selfishly, it was him that he worried for a little bit more. Tiberius wasn't sure he could take their rejection. ^^

"Because you are their dad, they would be comfortable no matter how you present yourself." Aries moved over closer, spitting out the poultice she chewed on a stray leaf and started to dabble it upon him. She was carefully using her paw to do so, the lightest of touches to dabble on, not rub, only gently so as it helped cleaned some of the wounds, and helped devoid of infection. The swelling seemed.. She was a bit worried to say the least, puss for the meanwhile seemed absent but it was so fresh that she knew it could form eventually. So the snow-kissed hare continued to watch and gingerily clean it, but at the same time she felt like scolding her Chief, who refused to let his young see him.

"They only have you right now." With Olive currently gone, she emphasized they really only had him ; it was the first time.. Their parents were gone. They were fairing better then Aries thought, there was no tears, but there was tantrums and wanting, especially with some curiosities and fustrations.

Tiberius scoffed as he listened, his molten gaze swirling with something akin to a sulk. "Easy sayin' tha' when yer not tha fucked up one," Tiberius grunted, wincing as she gently applied her poultice. He didn't move away, letting her do as she desired -- he was no healer, she knew better and he would dutifully sit for her even if he was unhappy about it. "Ain't no way they runnin' from yer face all scared an' shit," not when she looked as she did. Tiberius was not a man who often noted someone elses features as attractive but even he could admit that any woman or man worth a damn (and not terribly in love with their fiancé and crushing hard on their tiger best-friend) would likely find her pleasing. She didn't need to worry about someone being disgusted by her.

He knew she was right. He knew it, okay, if there was one thing that he knew it was that at the moment, their mama was gone and all they had was him. It hurt him, broken his shattered heart into further pieces yet he was powerless to change his own mind. "Git a pack full o'people they can play around wit'," he responded gruffly, stubbornly, an element of sadness in his voice. Tiberius looked away from her and to the den wall, his heart aching.

"Cain't do it," he croaked, "cain't face their rejection." It was weak of him to admit but he did and it made his throat close painfully ^^

Aries sighed as she put the supplies down, licking away her paws from the taste of medicine and the grim that came with it. His wound wasn't looking too good in truth. She tried to clean as she could, but the puss and blood was a lot to get through. The smell of even decay was to worry, and she was diligently clean as she could, making sure not to over-do it. Naturally the body has to help clean as well, and if she were to remove every bit, it would do more harm then good.

"They'll see you eventually." He was stubborn, causing the snow-kissed wolf to frown lightly as he turned away, "they do not understand why you are kept away. They are not so weak-willed to reject you over something they have seen throughout their whole life. You already scarred." Carefully toying away as she wanted to push him to at the very least speak to them ; there was only so much Aries could do to keep them away and in truth was quite unsuccessful in the near future. But she did not believe in anyway, they would reject him.
