Sovereign slept for a few hours after her most recent patrol. 
Making sure the borders were secure, keeping an eye on the Ripperwood from on-high with the murmurings about someone trying to stake a claim there...
She had half a mind to investigate herself, but it would be best, for now, to steer clear, she mused.
 
The young paladin rose as the sky began to tun pink, letting out a large yawn before she rose and prowled out into the open, looking around the immediate area for other packmates she had yet to meet. 

They were a large pack, so she figured there were plenty of wolves she had to familiarize in time. 
For now though, the girl would walk about, pausing on the edges of a cliff to look down on the Ripperwood with a furrowed brow and narrowing golden eyes.

There was a new woman that ventured to Empyrean. She was taller then most of the Ostrega children, and was a clear spotting through the whispers of the tree and night itself. A coat of such clear white was a disadvantage, Ara thought as she prowled through. So stark to be easily seen and wondered why not head to the north when the snow would truly help? Though her assets in the winter would be useful, for then Ara was within that disadvantage. Her paws ventured closer, a purposeful stepping on a branch to alert the other as she emerged from the bushes, a light snarl upon her face. Tail was raised in an air, a short wag was given that this was not a true aggression..

But her mother welcomed this yearling, so Ara challenged her to a spar.

Sovereign's ears perked at the snap of a branch from another.
Turning her head, she saw the aggressive display and impulsively slanted her ears back in yield, but upon seeing the wave of the tail, she relaxed her submissive display into a focused lowering of her head to protect her throat, level with her shoulders, as she turned the rest of her body to face Ara as head-on as possible, waving her tail a few times as a silent acceptance of the spar. 

Her mass would only get her so far against an opponent that was smaller and faster...she would need to be smart, too.

As the other matched in wavelength and set aside the submissive tone she firstly took, Ara's tail lowered to the ground. Prowling forth out of her place and moved slowly, a circling of the other gradually as she tucked her stance to the appropriate. Lowered to the ground with tail covering lightly her bits, and head covering the weak-spot of the neck. Mimicry of how she saw her mother fight and how they learned as well ; but she rarely put it into practice against others that were not an Ostrega.. So she was awfully curious to a fighting style that was not known.

However for the moment Ara did not strike firstly, only circling the other and eyeing her carefully.

The yearling mirrored Ara in circling - slow, strategic.
Eyeing and analyzing the fellow Empyrean before her, she allowed the first move to hang between them for a few moments, before Sovereign decided to take it.

Quickly, the yearling pushed hard from the ground and lunged for Ara's side in a burst of speed, hoping to get close enough to swing herself sidelong into Ara and thrust her backwards.
If the youth did not succeed in this, Sovereign would probably stumble, maybe even fall due to how she made her assault, but with other packmates, it was a learning process 99% of the time between each other and not a death match.
Sovereign was willing to learn and grow from her mistakes, as anyone should.

Watching and waiting, the burst of speed was not unexpected, where Ara was able to dodge enough. She swerved to the side, barely evading and feeling the wind of the other breeze by. A spurce of a body that would bring any to their knees if tackled, and she silently thought to avoid being brought to the floor. Any tackles brought on wouldn't be well-received in terms of a win or not, and she silently paced..

Within a risk of so, Ara threw herself at Sovereign, mainly ontop of her body. She didn't have an aim in particular, but intended to hold and grab where she could, thrashing and turning to see if any held some sort of effect. Bringing down the other stamina was a key point.

Sovereign stumbled as Ara swerved out of her way, catching herself on her paws in just barely enough time for the Ostrega to jump on top of her-!
The behemoth growled at the pinch of Ara's teeth as the black woman thrashed, and Sov immediately rolled on her back to try and temporarily crush her opponent underneath her weight. 

Sovereign would roll back on her paws just as quickly, regardless of if Ara was still attached or if she was forced to let go to avoid or even because of being flattened. 
The yearling would try to check and make sure Ara was okay either way, before they either concluded or continued their spar.

As Ara had jumped upon her, her feet were trying to dig into to remain within grasping. Muzzle tried to move along her neck to grip her scruff, she wanted to roll around and make the other submit by the fear of her grabbing her neck — as the point the dark wolf knew that she most likely would not be able to pin the other down well. However in the same attempt of so, the white wolf moved and squirmed, and flipped the world above.

She could feel her breath be taken away, the other ontop of her as she was squished, but within those moments of the other removing herself to check if she was fine — was an unwise decision. In the moments of so, Ara would've submitted in those faint attempts to gather her breath. But now with newfound pause, she scrambled and she moved forward, shackles raised and mouth open as she aimed squarely at the others neck.

Albeit, her stance was a bit off from the lack of oxygen. She felt a bit dizzy.

Sovereign's mercy had been a mistake, which she noted quickly as her fellow yearling rose quickly and snaked for her neck.
The giant girl rounded inward toward Ara then, ducking her muzzle into her throat while seeking to head-butt Ara straight in the nose with the crown of her head in an effort to merely stun the Ostrega.
Merciful in a way, yet again.
If the initial response of this headbutt did not land, Sovereign would roll with it and snake her teeth for wherever was most vulnerable on Ara instead.

Such was the way of spars - adapting, striking, a dance of both mind and body.

Ara yipped lightly as she felt the collision hurt her nose, static that was heard by such that threw her off. For a moment she backed up, but the in-between of regaining her stance and fight made a stark realization that she released an opening to the other. The Ostrega snarled and wanted to push forward to grip and grab anything, her claws digging into the ground for that pushing moment — but the time in-between was a fatal moment that decided such a fight. A low growl settled, as fangs circled around her neck and she only continued that growl of a signal.

'Release me, you won.'

There was no escaping an entanglement of a neck.

Sovereign succeeded, and the opening this allowed was an opportunity she did not miss. 
As her fellow yearling staggered and attempted to regain herself, Sov snaked under and gripped Ara's throat with fast teeth.

The growl from her fellow yearling and the lack of fight was enough of a signal to the pale giant that Sov had won this spar. 
Releasing Ara, Sovereign would back off a few paces with some friendly waves of her tail, looking upon the other she-wolf with an amber gaze that questioned if Ara was okay.
She figured Ara probably was not a wolf of words, or if she was - one of very few...
"You okay?" She decided to ask, if her gaze was not enough.

Ara nodded, looking at the other, "good spar." Although couldn't be denied inwardly was a bit disgruntled upon losing ; she would take this to heart and memory. She would need to ask @Hydra later upon the questions of bigger opponents as the young Ostrega was having difficulties thinking of otherwise ways to bring the other down besides the beat of stamina and speed. Her tail snapped behind lightly as she stepped back, with every intention to leave.

Came in and went out.

Sovereign smiled softly as Ara spoke to her.
Good spar.
The dark yearling began stepping away with the air of departure.
The pale girl did not intend to stop her.
A dip of her muzzle to the other in farewell as she left.

Sovereign turned her own direction to return to doing her part for Empyrean.
