Welcome to Canis Major

a wolf and animal rpg (role-playing game)

Canis is a writing community for play-by-post (forum-based), freeform roleplay set in a fictional dream world in the intrusion fantasy genre. Most characters on Canis are wolves; many play elements are focused around wolves and canids, but the world makes room for a large variety of other animal characters such as dogs, horses, cats, bears, deer, and many, many more.

Our community is focused on flexibility, creativity, and collaboration. That boils down to a few important features:

  • There is no set activity requirement to write
  • The setting and plot are member-created and staff-supported
  • The game is continuously improved to increase fun and decrease stress

Aries found herself restless on this night.. She prowled away from the Duskguard and paced through the forests around. The sky was clear with not a cloud in sight, and the shinning of a full moon reigning down, giving a guidance of light. Twinkling above, the galaxy shone brightly in a beauty. As Aries exhaled her cloud breath glided in the air, the colder season wrapping around her in a blissful comfort. Her warm fur tucked tightly where it was hard for the northern winds to penetrate, and she found comfort in the season.

The snow-maiden found a clearing, where the trees were absent and let the sky show openly. As she traversed to the middle of it, she turned her head to the sky.. Daydreaming and thinking.

The maiden of the moon held no sorrows at this time - today, she ventured for the lands most resembling those she hailed from.
In search of something, anything, she rode the low-hanging zephyr into colder territories, so far from where she currently occupied. Her thick fur relished in the ice-cold breath for the first time in nearly two months, and for once, she could feel somewhat content in the vast expanses of snowy earth. She hadn't been here before, but she was glad that she had come - though all of the haunting, mental pests of former events originated from lands such as these, she couldn't stay away forever. Today, having empowered herself under the light of the moon the previous night, she felt ready enough to venture out deep, into the tundras. She would need to sleep here for the night, for she wouldn't be able to make it back to the cove in time for any amount of rest - but that was fine. Here, with no trees to shroud her vision, she was sure she would have free access to the viewing of the night sky. Stargazing, a pleasantry and a hobby of hers, was something that took place uniformly every second night, but sometimes every night in times where she felt she was in need of communicating with her goddess. When she felt depraved of the typical energy she yieled (though she was never that energized, anyway) or especially haunted, she came to pray under the stars. Overcast night skies were one of the few things she loathed - believing them to be the products of the sun sending his clouds in attempts to cover up the moon. Still, Senersedee wasn't a soul of hatred, and was merely irritated by these events.

Today, she felt optimistic enough to venture miles and miles to the north to get to the tundras she'd heard of. Indeed she had heard of icy fields and glacial mountains lurking further up the territories, cool and frosty, like her homeland. Up until this point, she hadn't dared to visit, knowing that the journey would be long and trying... and what if she met one of them? One of the light ones, like the silver and white arctics of where she once lived, those who blended in. She wasn't the type to blend in. Instead, she was stark - like ink against the white flesh of the moors, one who could be spotted from a mile away. Although this was fact, Senersedee paid little mind to it. She wasn't planning on trespassing on any pack territory, and if she smelled a marker, she'd try her best to stay away regardless of whether it was faint or strong; new or old. Her reason for being here today wasn't anything she could quite place, she simply felt as if... she was ready to go somewhere like this again. It reminded her of home, although home for her was anything but welcoming. Here, though, in this strange world, as if a dream, she knew things were different.
Not everywhere that looked like her home was in fact her home, and not everyone who looked like those from her past were. That was what she told herself, until she accidentally broke through a small line of trees, into a clearing, and saw someone.

A woman of light, ivory-hued fur and platinum to silver accents placed randomly amidst the glade, her fur pale and pleasant against the similarly light backgrounds of the territory. Her eyes were a pale, stellar yellow, glistering with a tiny light. She seemed to be daydreaming, but it was impossible for her to not have noticed the dark wolf with how she contrasted against the white-painted landscape. She gulped at the sight, but didn't run; not yet. " ...Hello? " She called, standing before the white-dressed woman, muscles tensed.

She could see the birds twirling in the sky, their pitch-black forms stark against the moonlight. It shimmered and rained onto her coat, almost felt as if she was part of the light itself. For a moment did her eyes close, bathing in the light of both moon and stars alike ; the night surrounding so and the minor stillness besides the few caws that remained in the distant. Her ears twitched, the sound of crunching snow between the back-drop of all the trees. Though the pines and oaks were darkened by their closeness, the sky above reigned in that light where she could see the shadows before the sparkling snow.

Golden eyes turned to a dark force ; she was as black as the sky before them. Her eyes twinkled as white as the moon itself ; she was like a mistress of so, almost formed by the dark side of the moon. She greeted, with a soft and waning hello that had Aries smile at her, and greet back, "hello, lovely night isn't it?"
